Infamy is supposed to be based on your performance. An algorithm for infamy based on damage and stars earned seems a better way to judge player performance than team wins and losses. A team may still win with an afk or underperforming player that is rewarded the full 24 infamy. Often even though a player outperforms everyone on the team the team still loses and 24 infamy points are deducted. How is that rewarding gameplay? How is one encouraged to continue playing to the best of her or his ability when infamy is lost every other game no matter how well that person plays?

They should take a page out of War Robots' algorithm. There, the top 2 players on the losing team still gain points, albeit a small amount, but still positive. From there, players 3-6 lose points, scaling down to the last player who loses the most points.

We've gone over this, if infamy was based on stars, people would exploit it, if infamy was detirmined by any algorithm it would be exploited. And last time I checked there isn't a I in team

Seriously. I thought one of the rules of the forum was not to restart threads over and over again. The same poll again?

The forum needs better moderation to consolidate threads.

I'm new to the forum l, I didn't see this discussion anywhere else. I believe it's a discussion that hasn't seen any results so it's still valid.

What is a result? But fair enough. You are new. There have literally been discussions today about this. You just don't recognize the language for it. You can take a position in the debate; it is just hard for forum goers to make the same points over and over again.

If you want a primer, go here:
    https://forum.battlebay.net/threads/poll-broken-matchmaking.10040/

If you want to see it again (and there are so many more), go here:
    https://forum.battlebay.net/threads/50-win-rate.10965/

And if there is a forum god, please consolidate these threads.

One more matchmaking thread SMH! It looks tough for newer players if mk4's are playing at 600 infamy

In any given game forum, you'll see certain topics that are resurrected over and over again. That is usually a sign that it is legitimately an area of some controversy. I get that some of the long term players have seen the same subject come up frequently. But then its a matter of seeing what's in the subject line, realizing its the same thing that you've already been through, and just skipping it.

I think a lot of people venting their frustrations understand how the matching system works, they just don't agree with it. I see both sides of it. I understand why the devs set the system up the way that they did, but I also understand the frustrations of a lot of the players. I think the system could use a few tweaks. As designed, the game essentially punishes players for being better than their counterparts, all other things being equal.

Infamy is only a scale of how well you can persuade your team to win a game. That's what the devs have said and it works perfectly for that purpose. Because you think it should be defined as something else doesn't mean it is broken

Firstly, you're the one making games unfair because you are in an mk4 at only 600 infamy. With an mk4, your infamy should at lowest be 1000. This regards all the other mk4's at that infamy too, but the problem is that you are complaining about a problem caused by yourself.
If you look WarCream's reply, there are mk4's at 2500 infamy, while you're at 600. I think 600 infamy should be the infamy for mk2's(and a little amount of mk3's), but not mk4's.

Secondly, this is a team game, you're supposed to bring your team to victory, and a way to reduce floaters is to fleet up with a friend so you will for sure know that at least one team member is not a floater. And if you're good, your infamy will naturally increase until you meet people of the same skill.
