Sadly, I have some in-game friends in lower nightmare. What they have said is just what I've talked above.

You battle with even bigger idiots.

No way? Dude, think about it. Bittersteel fighting a bunch of 3400 infamy players? Ysl, who can LITERALLY 1V5 enemies sometimes, fighting a bunch of 3400 infamy players?

These guys lose, and lose, AND lose, until players at 3400 go down to 2800. They start winning, but the dudes at 2800 lose, and lose, AND lose. Now I know what happens when I go down to 2300, and I'll tell you. I get wins with huge damage. This affects the wins of 2300 players, who go down to 2000.

I've been down there way back when as well, so I'll tell you this as well, 2000 players get crushed by players who belong at 2300. This goes ALL THE WAY DOWN, no exceptions.

I talked about it. I understand that it is a chain effect. I simply like you to know that this doesn't last for simply a few days.

Yeah, I know. It lasts HALF A SEASON. But I still don't get your vacuum chamber point.

Man~, economics is not my cup of tea, I'll leave this discussion at that. I clearly lack the knowledge here xD.

Oh, @MVPKing!!! Come out and plaaaaay!!!

There is only one thing that I can think of to possibly save the bay.

Make the winning team earn more infamy than what the losing team loses.

This is the only way to generate infamy EVERYWHERE in the ladder, and actually make it possible to climb.

Sadly we are not game developers. It is not up to us to say whether this is effective or not.

Lol. Yeh it is pretty hard to look at matters as a ship. I wish we can get to the big data of Battle Bay and look at them.

Nah, I feel that it is better to leave this thread alone if devs don't see it. It is their game afterall. Their earned money doesn't go into my pocket lol.

I think that would just lead to inflation. You end up with a situation where players who lose 6/10 battles are still gaining infamy.

Remember that there is a nightmare cap at 4000. Overflowing infamy will be destroyed, leading to an equilibrium.

Also note that there are a lot of things the devs have to consider to make this feasible:

    More 4000+ infamy features
The exact rate of infamy creation in battles
    How often people battle

At least, it makes sense for the system to reward you for more battling.

I organized some ways of how infamy is created/destroyed:

    Infamy is created when:
Bots lose (this should be major)
Nightmare guys get rubberbanded back(confirmed to be wrong)

    Infamy is destroyed when:
    Nightmare league resets
Players quit (because the infamy is no longer active)

The thing about quitting players was not considered before. So I still would like to say that infamy is more often destroyed than created.

I will admit that the power level appears to be creeping up, and it’s happening quite fast.

Players returning to the game after a long break, often find themselves getting penalised for infamy tanking, because where they used to sit comfortably in thier mk4 has now become the domain of mk6s.

Yes, the entire community is advancing. Yet Rovio decides to trap us inside a closed system.

Pressure will build up, regardless of at the bottom or top. And this will crack in the container, leading to a final implosion or explosion.

Dude, the bay is fine, no need to be saved, it can and it will improve because we have awesome devs working on this piece of art ;)
I doubt it'd have any effect except giving us bigger numbers since we would face the same adversaries anyway ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I doubt any player in the game would do a better job than our current devs ◔ ⌣ ◔

    "The bay is fine"
Everything can be fine. It is human's instinct to improve.
I don't think the bay is any fine compared to the time around global launch.

The effect is hard to understand. But I can tell you it would be huge. It is a change in the root of the system. The generated infamy can act as a filter, to actually seperate the players into classes. Yet it is hard to tell you how it actually works since I must admit, this is only in my imagination.

    Does it really matter?
I was at 700 infamy about one month ago, I met only mk3,4 and sometimes mk5 after last season reset I droppes back to 700 from 1400 and now I usualy meet mk5 but also sometimes mk6 at/under 700 infamy with tier IV or V epics
how are normal players supposed to go through this area of 'noobs'?

Yes, this is disaster for lower end player. I can tell you the battles are not any better even if you go as high as 3000 infamy. This is also why I went here to create this thread.

A quick note: Nightmare does not "reset upwards" - if you fall below 4000 you don't get pushed back up.

I've had this discussion with the devs before. The early game is in a bit of a bad position right now as a result of this "downward pressure" but I don't think it's as much of a matter of infamy as it is with the gear levels having grown over time.

Let's look at an old screenshot of mine, from July of last year. Pardon the compression, it wasn't exactly considered high-value.
    july1.jpg
1400 infamy, there's not a Mk5 to be seen, and there's even a Mk3 hanging around. But more notably, look at the gear being used. There isn't a single Tier II Epic in sight. The vast majority are Tier II Rares, which are about the same, but there's a good showing of Uncommon items as well.
