This is also the example of the Sniper Cannon shot that had 0 damage.

Time=0. You fire a Sniper Cannon and send an exact coordinate of where and who you fired at with a timestamp.
Time=0.2. The server recieves the message that a Sniper Cannon shot has been fired. Game checks the current opponent/target location.
Time=0.3. The shot on your screen appears to have hit your target, a "Boom" hit shot sound effect is heard in game on your end. Meanwhile, server verifies the coordinates of the target and your shot timestamp.
Time=0.4. Server rejects the coordinates and says you missed the target.
Time=0.5. Nothing happens. Shot fired and missed. Sniper Cannon in cool down.

That's just how games work through latency / ping networking. The numbers may not be entirely accurate, and there's an actual "science" to the programming and development of Latency vs Lag in games and how things are compensated or resolved to a certain degree, but nothing is instant (even the speed of light isn't instant). In general there will be some "loss", due to the latency speeds through the current internet and connection speeds.

I can confirm these theories are correct. Latency makes even simple things really non-trivial.

The reason for the 0 shot damages for example is exactly what D3X described. The hit effect is predicted by your game client to hide the latency, and most of the time the prediction is correct. However, damage is applied on the server side to make it fair for everybody and make it impossible to hack. That opens the window for discrepancy between what the player sees and what actually happens. That is still a way better compromise than waiting for server confirmation on every single explosion effect.

This is probably the most important thing here. It gives us way better experince than being troubled by hackers. Thanks for that :)

Does anyone (including filthy Danes) trust Danes?

Maybe some do when you speak English but when danish is spoken it's impossible to trust what you can't understand. Source

    just an idea about teslabolt...

    it should in fact :
resetcooldown, and decrease cooldown by X% for Y second.
The purpose of teslabolt is to prevent you from excessive attack, useful at low lvl, but at high lvl with the amount of damage a weapon can make, speeder/enforcer/fixer take a great advantage of this

Seems like every time I check the forums, you're asking for another nerf lol.

I actually agree with this one, though. I'm not sure most players see this issue, since CC items aren't that common, but they really are very powerful in this game. The "Faraday Cage" thing and @P0rthos's idea for adding an anti-CC equippable item would do a good job of mitigating this without directly nerfing Tesla Bolt, though something could be done about that, too.
    @D3X
A similar anti-CC crew buff and/or equip would be useful against frost, too.

Speeders, and Enforcers especially, can use buffs in other ways. Giving them the ability to permastun isn't fun for the other classes, and they slow down the fight a lot for the user. One idea is to give yellow ships some way of speeding up their own cooldowns. Just spitballing here.
