Steep fall in infamy

    Sometimes it feels to me as though you easily get on extended losing or winning streaks. I've been suspicious that when you lose a game or two, the team starts loading you into teams with other players that have lost their previous game as well. Conversely, when you have won a game or two, your matching switches to players that have also won their previous game or two.

    On several occasions when I have won or lost, I will be teamed up against several opposing players that I was just competing against.

    Hahaha...sounds OP. A speeder would know what I am talking about. Harassing a team is distracting them. Annoying them so they separate and follow you. Picking them off is taking out the weakest players. Rush in, kill, return. That's how speeders are supposed to work. I still do the same thing over and over again so I guess speeders are still OP. ;)

    And about the part of having fun, fun is when your chances of survival are 100%. If you find a mortar/torp spammer then it's fun, rest of the time it's a fight to death on instinct and skill where a wrong decision can cost you more than you can carry. Speeders may be OP in NM but they are not OP anywhere else. Below NM I like to call speeders target practice for NM. :p

    You can still try to carry a game 1v5 which requires exceptional skills or better still super dumb unfriends. Comes down to matchmaking I guess. But I guess if everyone is happy with matchmaking then no one is losing much. It literally throws the concept of 50% win ratio out of the window. As long as matmaking sucks everything is working fine. When the complaints stop, well we have a problem. :D

    Agreed...speeder can still distract the team.
    Though taking down enemy even in one on one takes more skills now( like its supposed to, now others aren't hopelessly stuned all the time).

    Imo 1v1 is not that difficult. Use those well honed mk4 speeder skills on a mk5 or mk6, unfriend goes boom.:D

    2v1 is a problem. I hate the bolt nerf cos what can you do against a shooter and fixer as a speeder. You stun the shooter and fixer steps in, stun the fixer and shooter kicks your butt. 2v1 against shooters was always risky and now it literally depends on the shooter's skill with cannons rather than yours as speeder...lol.

    Edit: I did take on a fixer and a shooter and came out winning (thanks to team mates for realising I was on a suicide mission). Fixers have less weapons and more misses than a shooter. Now my strategy is to go for the shooter and keep the fixer on all time stun. And switch when shooter is off target for heals. It works most of the time. *Life of a speeder*:rolleyes:

    If I were you I’d go back and rewatch some replays during your “Win Streaks” & some relays during your “Lose Streaks”. So that you can be sure that your watching your most competitive optimal plays and least optimal plays. A lot of people blame team mates or updates/nerfs or buffs. And sometimes there’s good reason too. But I don’t think many people go back and really analyze the strategy that got them to their highest Infamy. As for myself I get into lose streaks from time to time. Usually a 400-500 Infamy lose. I just analyze my gameplay to recognize what I’m doing different. Then change that gameplay. The higher the Infamy you go, usually the more difficult it is to be aggressive. So strategies do change at different ranges of infamy.

    Yep I used to loveeee the speeder but not any more its useless I used to be a true beast! But you know not anymore because it keeps getting Nerfed like hell :(

    I just had to stop playing altogether, sadly, and cancelled my subscriptions. Between ExCannon and Tesla Bolt, they added nearly 10 seconds of extra cooldown onto my ship (practically doubled it). That’s not “nerfing”, it’s ‘killing’. And with targeting also screwed up (which it obviously is), the only smart move is not to play.

    Anyone saying you can manage just as well with the 20 second TB, is either delusional, or wasn’t using it to its full potential, in the first place. There is no way you can hold onto 100% of your infamy, with items that are only 60% as good, and dropping 40% of my infamy would put me way below the -800 threshold.

    Speeder is just trash now. Very few weapon combos left that are workable, and all the yellow items have been nerfed to ****.

    All I can do now is wait around for the next update, and hope that things improve. I’m not very optimistic though, given the sorry state that frost is still in (2 updates later). Seems Rovio is more interested in saving face, rather than rectifying thier mistakes and balancing the game.

    They could at least fix targeting and the -800 rule though.

    Ex Cannon should go back to its old cooldown, so it’s viable on Defenders and Speeders again, if they must nerf something it should be the flare combo.

    Tesla Bolt cooldown should be proportionate to the stun duration. Having to wait 20 seconds for a Tesla Bolt that only stuns 8 seconds is stupid.

    Upgrade ur mk5 to mk6. U might get different results..:) Also. U'll be getting extra health and a 2 slot weapon. And bandage, Which will be a game changer in certain situations..

    I fell 1K,gained 200 infamy back... But i Can say that i have to play exceptionally well to win most of the games which is frustrating ..

    For me its not so much losing infamy, its spending months at the same infamy while my gear has got lots better.

    Literally everyone's gear gets stronger over time.
    Unless your gear up rate is greater than the average gear up rate, please explain the logic for why your infamy shouldn't remain static over time?

    F2P Speeder here. Reached a new personal best last season :p

    Speeder is still good, not as dominant as it used to be but it's still good.

    Tesla Bolt needed that nerf. And even with the nerf, it's still a great yellow item.

    You just have to be SMARTER and BETTER than before. No more running around mindlessly just because you're fast.

    Exactly I want to see same kind of treatment to every other ships too. No mindless shooting just because you have 5 weapons and don't need to manage cooldowns.
    No mindless spamming of 3 mines with 2 tesla shields all over the map.
    Every ship deserves equal justice doesn't it?

    I disagree. IMO your logic only works if no new players join the game.
    With new players joining, improving your gear should improve your infamy.
    If your logic worked, a player would theoretically remain at their starting infamy if they were an average player who only progressed at average pace.
