    I rather explosive cannons but they do alright paired up with incendiary items such as flare gun, napalm, firebomb and grenade

    In my opinion bandages aren't worth it unless they heal around 100 per tick which is basically tier 5 rare zone. Even then you'd need stack multiples to get some decent health out of them. Not to mention they get blanked by flares and stuns both of which are just everywhere.So there's that.
    My bandage heals 67 per tick which is pretty much a waste of blue slot at higher level. I'd rather have another high level standard shield but I don't have extras. So I'll just have to put up with bandage for now.

    Keep it in your calculations defence points are only valid for point damage like cannons and not splash damage like mortars and torpedoes. So defence perks seems good on defender and shooter but not so good on other ships.

    Actually they are valid for all non-incendiary items. Explosives will be reduced aswell :D
