Review of 3 vs 3 TDM Event

    The grind was painful and too much for me. The legendary perk shouldn't only be within reach of those that play 12 hours a day.

    Respawning on the go. Health restores instantly after the "killing". So we will have gapless battle, but the score will still be counted.

    As many have said before me, reduced CD completely ruined it for me. Not enough time to utilize my full arsenal. No real thought, just mash the same 2-3 buttons until game is over and hope you’ve won. The established CD’s felt like they brought a sense of balance. I tried multiple boats/loadouts all with minimal success. Granted my gear is mostly fixer-centric so that could’ve been a problem on my end. Win based requirements makes it unappealing when so much of the event is out of your hands. And the reduced rewards felt like getting the rug pulled out from underneath you. I liked the 3v3 format, and hope to see it again in the future though. Overall, when comparing the two events, I have to say the first one was WAY more enjoyable.

    I don't like this week's event, either.
    The last one was good. I got a fair chance of winning. Even when I lose, there were progress if I played well.
    In this event, I played 18 battle with only 2 wins. Even though in most matches I had the most output, it doesn't help a bit with progress.

    If, god forbid, this event comes back then try running something like this setup. Won the last 7 games I ran as Fixer after settling on this setup.

    But fingers crossed that we wont see half cd again anytime soon.

    The grind was painful and inhumane. I can't be glued all day to my phone. I have shit to do and things to take care off.
    Even epic perk is barely reachable to me, legendary perk is just out of question.

    Don't make kills part of the reward structure! You will be sorry -- the game will devolve into kill-stealing, and ppl will be raging after every... Single... Game...

    Just curious, was the change to win based progress a response to complaints from fixer players in the first event who felt they were at a disadvantage ( because it is harder to get stars as a fixer), was it because too many people received the legendary item last week (because how “legendary” is something if everybody has it), or was it always planned to have this variation as part of the events? (Or maybe some other reason).

    I rage every single game when there is 8+ shooters (I'm a speeder). Those matches are really boring because my team usually has a disadvantage.
    P.S. I would love to see shooters start raging as I steal their kills. They deserve it either way/.

    First of all, I like to say that the new event is a welcomed addition. I will start with I think should be tweak to make the event better.

    - Win as requirement is very good as this is a team battle. The amount required was absurd. 3 days = 72 hours = 288 tickets + 5 to start with makes it 293 possible tickets. So about 70 wins for the top prizes make sense because we only have 3 days now. (I think 5,10, 25, 30 is good as the legendary is not that far from epic.) If people willing to put in about 150 games on the weekend, they deserve the prizes. That's on top of having to do guild rivalry too. It's impossible to get to 2 legendary perks without pearls which is what Rovio wants.

    - Bring back the additional rewards. Scale it by league and add some RGN to it. This is for NM league. I think lower than ACE league shouldn't even get legendary perk at the moment. They will eventually get there but it's too soon for them.
    1. Uncommon perk & (75% uncommon item, 25% rare piece)
    2. Rare perk & (90% rare piece, 10% epic piece)
    3. Epic perk & (50% rare item, 40% 3 epic pieces, 10% epic item)
    4. Legendary perk & (50% 5 epic pieces, 40% epic item, 10% legendary piece)



    I read few complains on here and it's basically the event didn't went their ways. Some are actually valid though.

    - Prevent respawn zone camping. Adjust the map so weapons can access other respawn zone. Right now, there is no way to access it if both entrances are block by mines. Make a point in the middle where if one team passes that, the other team must claim that or hit the enemy within 30 seconds. How hard is it to hit an enemy within 30 seconds in a brawl?

    - Do something with the mines. In normal mode, people don't run around to mine all over the map because they only have 1 life. Plus the maps are too small. Make the mines disappear after the miner respawn.

    - Do something about ACE and NM players beating up on noobs. Few people referenced back to what Devs said about using other ships but I doubt they meant to manipulate it for easy wins. At the end of the day, it's a virtual prize that they're doing this for. Only a perk too. Hey, if it makes you sleep better at night by selectively repeating what the devs stated, then keep doing it.

    First off, the events mode really added to the re-playability of BattleBay so kudos to the Devs for adding this mode. No doubt that the Devs are looking into all the data that they have gathered and will adjust for future events.

    The Good
    1. To make the most out of the events, players have to get out of their comfort zone and use other ships & weapons combos – for me, I main Shooter and Fixer in normal mode, but for the 5x5 and 3x3 TDMs, I used my Enforcer and Defender respectively with weapons that I don't equip on my mains (like Carronade, Nitro, Railgun). Luckily I tend to hoard my items and also managed to level them up a little prior to the events, so I had a selection of items to equip and try out.
    2. Battles were fast-paced and in the 3x3 TDM, almost too fast.
    3. I managed to rack up Achievements for my secondary weapons
    4. I increased my kill ratio from 0.58 to 0.62 over the last 1 week. Seeing 4,5 or 6 kills to your name is soooo satisfying hahahaha.

    The Not-So-Good
    1. 50% cooldown reduction in 3x3 TDM was probably a bit too much but I shouldn't be complaining since I could stack multiple firebombs on unfriends and finish them off with a railgun shot. Perhaps a 25% reduction could be tested for next TDM.
    2. As others have pointed out, spawn area camping (coupled with mines and/or fixer) had an unfair advantage.
    3. Experienced a few games where Mk5/6 players were on the unfriends team and we were all Mk4s.
    4. I get that Rovio needs to bias BattleBay towards P2W players, but as a F2P, the 3x3 TDM win requirement was discouraging. Only managed to get the Rare perk this time round, managed to get the Epic perk in the 5x5 TDM as I could at least get 1 star if we lost. I played less overall games (thus less ad watching ~ less ad revenue for Rovio) during the 3x3 TDM

    Valid concern. With the spawn camping debuff, floaters would obviously die. But your chance of winning any TDM game with a floater would be extremely small to begin with, so I guess this would just speed up the mostly inevitable defeat ;)

    I agree with most of your points, except:
    Really bad for fixers, maybe when the devs figure a fairer way to give them stars.
    Just because the event is temporary. :D
    And only 3 maps is kind of boring.

    I managed to draw one and win two matches with floaters on my team, and, oh yeah, there was a fixer vs fixer match when I drew. Dude, I think something has to be done about floaters in TDM.

    Maybe something like, when the countdown timer for respawn ends, you get a respawn button(yes, I got this one from someone else, I cannot remember who for the life of me xD). If it's a floater, they won't press the button, making sure nobody "farms" AFKs, or the zone doesn't keep killing them every 100 seconds.

    It could also just leave the shield up until it detects some input (move/look). That would be less intrusive for active players.

    Edit: on second thought, maybe that wouldn’t work. What happens if you fire from inside a teammate’s invulnerable shield?
