Excannon plus flare is a combo, they cant just take out the whole combo, or can they? I dont find that combo annoying, what I find annoying about it is that so many us ethese flare combos and without the frost combos, there is not much variation, its gets boring when all the speeders but u have the same combo. However boredom is not a cause of nerf.

If you're a Fixer routinely getting into extended close combat, then you're playing the ship sub-optimally. Your goal as a traditional Fixer (as opposed to selfish Fixers) is to hide behind your team and heal them. If somebody breaks through the lines and starts targeting you, then your gig is up. You should either run, hide behind a wall, or if you can't escape, try to do as much damage to them as possible before dying, giving your teammates a bigger chance of getting revenge.

Try using Overboost to run through attackers and dance around them as their turret turns - consider equipping a Rudder, because an agile Fixer can make assassinations a lot more difficult. Help macros are your friend, and the earlier you sound the alarm, the more likely somebody will be able to come and attack your attacker. Running one Duct Tape once you hit Mk5 helps a lot with survivability, too. You should be near your teammates as much as possible for defense against assassins. More than any other ship, a Fixer needs to be aware of your environment and ALL of the enemy ships' positions. Almost nobody will spend the time to chase a Shooter around the map twice or aggressively hunt a Defender, but I routinely get two ships chasing me all the way around the map, ignoring even near-death teammates in their line of fire. That's the nature of this ship - you keep your team alive, so killing you early kills your team.

Also, sometimes you just get killed. Sometimes teammates don't know how or don't care to defend their Fixer. The matchmaking algorithm aims to maintain a 50-50 win loss ratio for each player, and until you're in Nightmare and competing against the best players in the game, your ratio will stay close to 50-50. I agree that adjustments need to be made to torps, but from what you described in this thread, I think tweaking your play style will help you more than a torp nerf would.
