You're giving up a blue slot to do it, whether it's 4BBB, 5BBBB or 6BBBBB. Two small shields are roughly equal in terms of base HP, but they also can fit perks which further bolster things. I'd want to hear veteran defenders weigh in but I see a whole lot more boats with double standard shield in order to get the maximum out of both blue slot usage and perks.

When you get to mk5 you should replace the standard shield with a turbo and keep the big shield and add a cannon, a carronade or a grenade launcher to your setup because, imagine you are against me(which is impossible) but imagine... I stun you, then I get up close and you are dead, the torps are amazing and a mortar is always good but if I see you don’t have anything more I can kill you Ez because of the lack of close range weapons

I agree and I run a turbo on my M4 shooter. That being said, it's effectiveness is marginal at these levels and I debate constantly swapping it out for another shield or bandages. The problem is that the turbo really doesn't have the juice to get you out of the mortar rings... or at least mine doesn't and it's running at about 50%. I look forward to getting some turbo upgrades, but this may be yet another item which is great at higher levels and... not so much... at lower ones.

Shooter needs big shield and turbo mk5 and under

After that I would use turbo big shield and bandage.
Some people use turbo big shield and small shield but I would rather get healed all game than lose it once. Also it helps in the 1vs1 in the end where you can avoid the other player for few seconds to heal
