The reason that that mk7 was matched with you is because he used to be at around the same infamy as your team, but then dropped more than 800 from his highest (definitely an infamy tanker).

Tip: go to @Miika profile posts, search for matchmaking, you'll see a lot of information there ;)

You're welcome, Miika's profile has tons of information about pretty much everything. Reading it is very informative.
Based on what Miika and other developers Said us day after day, and on perception over 16 thousand battles: I guess the thing you said about glicko that doesn't apply to to Battle Bay is that "making your team weaker". As Miika said on the post you quoted, those games made heavy adjusts on the system :)

Interesting thing about Glicko tho, it is also designed to "decay" the skill rating. I haven't seen something like that in the BB matchmaker I believe... A modification of the original Glicko?

Yeah, I have done my fair share of reading, which is why I use phrases like "I believe" or "it seems" when I don't feel like double checking what I strongly suspect to be true, rather than to risk disseminating misinformation.

Anyways, obviously, I have no clue as to what exactly has been modified, but there are some things that you simply cannot modify if you wish to use it a thing for it's intended purpose, e.g., a car without wheels.

With these systems, it's certainly not a goal of it to put you on a weak team, but that's one possible result of an extended win streak.

The two teams are typically matched based on the the sums of their respective player ratings (although the exact formula varies). So, if you're on a win streak, either you will increasingly make up a larger percentage of your teams total rating (i.e., your team will increasingly have a lower rating) or you will be matched with opponents as rated as high as you (i.e., stronger than previous opponents) ... or some combination of the two.

"Weakness" and "strengh" are relative terms too. A mk5 may appear strong to a mk4, but weak to a mk6. You can have the same teammates that are "strong" against one team and "weak" against another.

I think that infamy is the rating Battle Bay MM uses, and they only add the MK to the formula because we, players, wanted that the battles looked fairer, since we wouldn't see a MK5 team vs a MK6 team. Now the battles look fairer (when we see the MK) but they actually are not, because there are more low MK on higher infamy that their skills would allow them to achieve.

They probably didn't think it would be necessary .. the normal pattern is people get higher with less as everyone moves up the boards. Free leggies and nightmare league resetting at 4k might be pushing people down. (Not that I'm complaining .. but it's interesting)

One way you can tell is to look at your battle log to see if the vast majority have teams with fairly even infamy totals. It's probably easier to use matches with all the same ship tier so you don't have to worry about those variables.

My guess is they're not even - that you could easily switch 1 or 2 boats to make it more even. The reason is that two people could have the same infamy, but one is on a 10 game losing streak and one is on a 10 game winning streak. Player ratings are a little more accurate in finding a good match - which I think has been working pretty well.

People are just used to walking through games on easy mode. I prefer a hard fought loss over winning a match I could have won in my sleep.

The Matchmaking system he claimed to be used in BB isn't a conspiracy theory like other threads...
He sure knows what he is talking about.

50% win/loss ratio is product of Glicko MM system, infamy is just a number which describes it

.... or it's a gatekeeper or filter to keep two players with the same player rating from being matched against each other if the infamy disparity is too great.

But, that's just an educated guess.

Well if you’re at level 40 you can upgrade to Mk6, the. It’s only one mark difference.

Don’t get too hung up on gear, you’ve got to know how to use it. Ever heard the saying ‘all the gear, no idea’?
