I'm sorry, I have to bump this thread. It is mind-blowing how bad this feature is. I keep turning it on for shits and giggles and just... it literally makes the worst possible decision in nearly every situation it is presented with. You lock in on an enemy across the map, and it honestly chooses the longest possible route to get there. It runs you into walls and just leaves you there. It runs you into every single mine, even if the MORE DIRECT ROUTE towards the person you locked in on would avoid them. Once you get to the person, it just blows right past them, often taking a wide turn around an obstacle so you can no longer shoot at the target you chose. Like, cruise control CONSTANTLY avoids obstacles, even though the decisions it makes are laughable as well, but still. Rovio didn't think to include the same collision detection/avoidance in the thing that is supposed to take over all steering/pathfinding? Anyways, I know, I know, like someone said this was probably put into the game for the beginner of beginners but it's just so laughably bad, if the beginner has a functioning brain stem, not even a full brain, they can 1000% do better navigating than this thing.
