Guild Rivalry Matching

    I never said winning every week is balanced.
    We are a small guild (most around 1000 infamy) and can usually clear 3 boards.
    Since the update we have been matched with several guilds in the top 100, and even when we have pushed hard (harder than usual) were unable to keep the pace with the competition we are up against and came at the bottom.
    Winning every week isnt balanced, but busting your gut for the whole rivalry to come dead last isn't right either.

    Right, not for the same prizes. I tried hard to think of one, and couldn’t either. I don’t know what that says to you, but to me it indicates that something is off.

    You think it’s sour grapes for me, and I think you’re stoked that your lazy guild has a better shot at winning. But ultimately I don’t think the new system is fair, and you do. We different definitions of fairness, and I sincerely doubt either is going to sway the other.

    We are talking about a video game here. It doesn't hurt you at all if a lesser guild receives the same prize as you. If you want to put in less effort and be in a lesser guild and get the same end-of-rivalry reward (but much less quest rewards), then NOBODY is stopping you.

    My guild completes 4+ boards every week. We got first place in both of these first two weeks. This week, we most definitely won't get first place, but that is okay because other guilds are outworking us. We are also about Top 100 in infamy.

    You have done nothing but complain in this entire thread and have yet to post an actual solution even when I directly asked you.

    What would you like Rovio to do to fix this issue?

    You’ve made a million posts about this same topic in every thread and at every opportunity. Everyone knows how you feel about it. You’re not going to understand or agree with my perspective, and I’m comfortable with that.

    I thought this was clear, but I’d like to go back to the previous system. (I suppose I would tighten the infamy-matching so that you’re mostly competing against teams that are within 10-20 places on the infamy scale.) I know that you don’t agree with this, and frankly I’ve stopped caring. :p

    Pure infamy based matchmaking is even worse and more exploitable. That would put us right back in the same crap that we had before. Combining the two systems is the only one that makes more sense.

    Yup, you’ve shared this. I would rather they use the correct approach and fix the “exploitable” aspects (infamy tanking) than blend in a fundamentally flawed approach. Competitions, for the same prizes, with groups based on outcomes and not potential do not exist in other games (or sports), which provides further evidence that this approach is fundamentally flawed. I consider it evidence—I’m sure you don’t. o_O

    I don’t think infamy tanking within guilds that want to compete to be such a big deal—people that are competitive around one thing are generally competitive around others. I don’t think that groups care so much about guild rivalries that they’ll sacrifice their overall ranking. Not care? Yes. But actively rank? No. And in order to compete in rivalries you need to win a bunch of battles, which runs counter to infamy tanking. I’m sure it will happen, but not enough to be an issue. I’m sure we disagree here too. :p

    I would argue that if you had an extremely good guild, then winning almost every week is balanced. In a balanced ecosystem, the stronger win more and the weaker don’t. As a very active guild you’ll rise in infamy and eventually be more likely to have tougher competition. Balance comes naturally and in a fair manner.

    Our guild ranking 4000 with an average level of 20 and infamy of 800 cannot compete against a full guilds of level 40s and infamy 4500 ranking in the top 100s... We may be able to get through the first three boards, but after that our weapons do a fraction of the damage of our Rivaled guilds so at that point the competition is over.

    We now just get to the end of board three collect the board bonus and STOP, it’s just a complete and utter waste of time doing any more, whilst the other much stronger guilds go on and fight out for the rest of the board.

    So seriously Rovio, there are no other active guilds relatively global ranked with level, infamy, damage with ours..... rubbish!!

    If a guild puts in the time to play hard and compete against equal global ranked guilds, they should WIN, NOT be penalised for putting in the playing time and effort, that’s just negative reinforcement. I’m surprised Rovio actually implemented such bad ‘gaming theory’.

    I’m guess anyone arguing that the current system is fairer has recently just won their first rivalry as they are only up against relatively Noob guilds and wants this mismatch to continue.... lmao

    Changing the Rivaly structure was a good idea, it wasn’t right back then, but it needs to be sorted out soon before B.B. starts hemoragging players......

    Anyway it will all come out when Rovio look at the revenue figures and realise the mismatched guilds have stopped buying boosts, and the once active players can’t be bothered anymore.

    21k tokens? That’s less than completing a single board.... if you are gna troll about an exploit that you aren’t going to tell anyone, at least exaggerate the rewards a bit.

    Hey my guild is f2p and yes we try to stay active bcz it's a good game but recently we started matching with rivalry of 3 to 4 times our total infamy.. ofcourse they will have high damage weapons and can complete quests faster...many of our players just stopped playing and now our guild is coming to end...please help rovio fix this unfair matching we would all like to have rewards for the hard work we have put in.
    Also there is one thing more ..soppose one guild completed 20 quests and other also completed 20 quests but after the 1st one both get ranked 1st and 2nd resp. Instead of both being 1st...I mean atleast give some more tokens instead of that demotivating 2nd place.
    Battle bay is a cool game and I would love to play it in all its glory...please rovio god's work on my two suggestions.
