I'm glad people are finally realizing how bad this rivalry matchup change was, leading to the implosion of stable guilds and reduced engagement due to the guarantee that every guild will average 3rd or 4th place, worth just a few spins on the raffle board. There's no way to bump rewards without bouncing guilds (cheating the system). I liked the RNG rivalries better.

There's a really good idea here with the guilds, but a few ideas could use some re-thought. The reality is players work really hard for the paltry rivalry rewards, and rewards for later quests are not proportional to the effort. I think all quests should be the equivalent of medium. By the end of every rivalry engagement is down because the quests go on for days, rewards aren't proportional, and then it's not even clear where you stand relative to your rivals with days-long quests.

Also, Fixers are basically left out of questing a good chunk of the time. In my guild one Fixer regularly finishes the 1-2 Fixer quests on the board by themselves before any other quests can be accomplished, then the rest are weapon focused. What is a Fixer to do when stars/dominator/wins are no longer on the board?

That’s a good point. A few weeks ago my guild was in first place, and then we lost in the last hour, to another guild suddenly gaining 4 quests (in dunno if they slow played us or what).

Then last week, we tied for 2nd place (meaning we came 3rd), yet we had a quest 99% completed when the clock run out.

I think you’re right that if the later quests were shorter, then it would give you a much better idea of where you are, and feel less insurmountable when you get stuck on a quest and have to grind it out with the wrong weapons.

Aint both of your examples interesting gameplay though? Those clutch moments where you actually care about the outcome. I dont continue playing games once I stop caring about the outcome anyway.

Fully agreed that the system should encourage and promote guild loyalty. Disagree that removing the sense that results matter is the way forward.

@envylife Noone has come to realize that. The people that farmed easy wins before are still moaning that rivalries are actual rivalries and not a stomping ground anymore.

I dont miss being matched against guilds that complete twice the number of quests. Nor do I miss knowing our end position 10 seconds into the new rivalry.
Infamy has nothing to do with ability to Quest, activity & $$$ boosting does.

I don’t know really. The first example was just disheartening, because I put more effort into that week than any other (a totally unsustainable amount of effort), and then it turned out that we couldn’t have won anyway.

The second example, again, I put a lot of effort into trying to snatch 2nd (which is not even that worthwhile), and none of it counted because of a 1% unfinished quest.

Had the rivalries been made up of more and shorter quests, then we would have been able to see how far behind we really were in the first example, and might have had more avenues to catch up (instead of just being stuck with huge quests that no one could do).

In the second example, we probably would have won, because the effort we did manage to put in would have been banked sooner and counted for something.

    Update announced.
No update to guild rivalry matchmaking.
    *sigh*
I don't blame any guild for using the current matchmaking system to their advantage. There are two obvious ways to circumvent the matchmaking to get easier rivalries. The number of guilds using these will certainly increase until every rivalry is filled with multiple quest tanker guilds and "shell guilds". Funny we've never seen any official reply to any of these matchmaking threads.

Anyways! I'm really looking forward to the new "Gamemode" rotation. Hope we get some fun new ways to play BattleBay.

I'm gonna hope that when the game modes change there needs to be a short maintenance time, which will hopefully include small fixes and balances... Otherwise, this update is mostly a bust with very little 'new and never seen before' content...
