Every ad that's viewed earns them $, so when they stream them directly to your account either watched or unwatched, clips earns them bonus $ & us data.

    THE COSTS TO PLAYERS

While the most common way for mobile app ads to cost advertisers money and pay out to app developers is per click, there are other commission structures available that pay for views or specific actions. The effective cost per thousand impressions, a measure that equalizes advertising revenue of apps with different click-through rates, ranged between $.53 and $1.12 in 2012. An impression occurs each time a new ad is displayed to a user. So if an app averages 1,000 daily users who see two ads each at an eCPM of $.50, the app would generate $1 on average each day.
Unpaid downloads will account for 91 percent of all app downloads, leaving developers looking for ways to generate revenue from their wide distributions. Some developers include in-app purchases to bring in money from their apps, but advertising plays an important role in cashing in off app sales. Mobile app development is an expanding field. Understanding the parameters of advertising revenue can help developers and investors set their expectations.
So if a player tries out a free-to-play game and they don’t pay micro-transactions, is the experience free? Well, not quite. As stated above, players who aren’t paying aren’t really customers anymore, they’re contractors employed by the game company to provide opponents for the paying players. As such the developers want to keep these types of players in the game as long as possible. This means that it often takes much longer to achieve things as a “free” player than it would in a paying game or than it would for a paying player in the same game.

For a beautiful and amazing game both graphics and gameplay wise, provided by Rovio, Free of the cost! I don't mind them making some money from me watching the ads, you need money to rent expensive high-speed servers to keep the game alive. where do u think that comes from?
At the end still keeping the game completely free, as watching an ad is upto you, instead of other games just popping an annoying ad in mid-game.
So comparatively , they are doing a great job! :)

I think they rely on Unity Ads if I am not wrong.
Unity is one of the most widely used game engines in the industry, and it's not like any other 3rd party libraries.
and even if they did, what's wrong with that?

They probably get paid by the download, so they want to make it look like the vips are watching the videos so they can still get paid. So they do them in the background, using up all your data to bilk the advertisers. Just a guess based on how classy Rovio is

It sounds like we are ‘paying’ for the videos whether we watch them or not...

Locking this thread because of this utter nonsense. This is not at all how mobile advertisement works. Developers get paid only from fully completed views. Besides it was already established in this thread that VIPs don't even download any ads.
