Maybe it's different for perks... (I was opening boxes of pieces)

 

I guess I am lucky because I got one leg piece from 4th and 10th box.
It happened twice

why dont you buy item pieces?
you want a guarenteed chace of getting it, no?
and are youguarenteed an epic perk on the 10th box?

Now it just makes sure you don't go more than 9 boxes without a Legendary piece...

 

There was a 99% chance it was going to happen that way anyway. I’m not part of the 1%.

 

You surprise? So now if you lucky enough to get that 1% on the 9th piece, it pretty much mean nothing.

Long-time listener (player), first-time caller (poster).

The in-game rewards info page states: "Spend your battle coins to get item pieces, every 10th box gives a guaranteed legendary piece." Likewise: "Spend your battle coins to get event perks, every 10th box gives a guaranteed epic perk."

The above language is not describing a "pity" system. (One could describe a "pity" system in multiple ways, but one of the easiest might be: "You are guaranteed to receive at least one [legendary piece] [epic perk] every ten boxes you open.")

The above language is describing a system where box numbers 10, 20, 30, etc. each contain the prize, and the others might or might not contain the prize.

Not to say they couldn't change it in the future, but the current in-game language is clear. Which, I suspect, is why so many folks are chiming in to note that even when they got "the big one" before hitting box number 10, box number 10 itself is still a winner. (Heck, it happened to me twice this past weekend.)

 

All this time, and it looks like nobody actually answered your question.

The answer is: No, your progress from Box 1 to Box 10 gets reset each week, much like your progress toward spending 900 coins for a perk gets reset.

Which means, incidentally, that if you spend 900 (actually 910) coins and then stop, you’ll have bought 26 boxes, meaning you’re essentially losing out on 6 boxes’ worth of progress, and might reasonably believe that when you start up the next week, you’re at Box 7, when I’m fact you’re at Box 1 again.

Sound like that may have been what happened to you?

(Note: This is why it’s a good idea to spend 1050 coins for thirty boxes in a week, instead of 910 for twenty-six, at least if you’re getting piece or perk boxes.)

 

Based on the explanation from Miika, I think what happened in my case was that I got lucky and got an epic earlier than the 10th chest so the counter reset. It either has to be that or the counter carries over - but since both your explaination and Miika’s come together to basically agree that it wasn’t that, i’ll stick with the reset explaination. Thanks
