    Why not have the same reward for all ship boxes? What is the point of the chance of getting 50 pieces or 5000? I can see it may increase the chance of players using their money but in the end, players will just quit when they are having bad luck.

    You answered your own question... hooking into your gambling mentality nets them more money. There's been a lot of controversy surrounding loot boxes because of it, particularly with the younger crowd.
