    it might prevent some from exploiting but it still doesn't change the fact that I met more exploiters than in all previous events together (in some of them I met 0 or 1 in tens of matches)

    I'm not sure if there are more/less exploiters out there... but I wouldn't be surprised if more are trying it simply because over time more and more people figure out what works and what doesn't.

    Why don't they make event rewards based on gear score to encourage players to bring the best items they have?

    maybe yes, maybe no
    in 1v1 event I met people with full t4/5 rares and myx t3 epics in mk3 defenders with 5k+ hp and I was in my defender with three t3 rares (blast-max, tape-fresh t3 at that time, turbo-half leveled up t3) and my other items were t2 uncommon tape, t1 epic small shield, max t1 epic OB and lvl16 epic std cannon
    I was forced to draw this match because I was not able to get them under 80% of their hp while my hp was under 50% at that moment (even when I was activating my tapes right after their cooldown ended)
    in previous events I met people in mk2 ships with legendary items and max lvl rares but they were still possible to be killed by concentrared fire from shooters (it was usually one/two shooters killed just to kill one stupid mk2 ship)
    now I met people who were able to kill my 2.7k hp shooter in two/three shots when they had mk2/3 ships, maybe not more exploiters but deffinitely stronger (at least my observations)

    I don't think GS exploitation has been a problem in the events outside of under-leveled boat issue... for which I think all boats should be leveled at once. For me EventMatchmaker(tm) made it impossible for me to use a lower level boat. When I hop in my MK2 with 4k GS I'm always matched against MK5 with 6k+ GS. When I fleet MK2 with an MK6 I get no less than MK6 opponents. As such I haven't a clue how others are being successful doing this.

    Much of the variation in loadouts I see is due to adapting to the events... 1v1 or 2v2 require different loadouts than standard, so it's not unreasonable for someone to bring out a couple lower level item that is needed for this event that aren't normally used, and thus not leveled up.

    simple, they don't have 4k gs mk2 setus;)
    they use one/two op items and other items are under-leveled so their gs is around 3k for mk2 (these get matched against mk4 anyway) or around 3k for mk3 and mk4 ships which is somehow "normal"
    my ships have gs of 3.3k-4k, I have mk3 defender and enfo and other are mk4, my deffender setup is 3.3k gs but I don't use defender, my enfo setup is 3.5k but I don't use it
    my speeder setup is 3.8, fixer is 3.5 and shooter is 3.7-4k gs

    That was tried before, but people exploited the sh*t out of it :(

    That's likely the cause of EventMatchmaker(tm) trying to punish those with a single high level item on their boat.. forces me to unload my only T5 Epic item to avoid being drastically over-matched. I hope they can fix this oversight.
