Capture The Flag - How to Play

OK. I have been playing and for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to play. I guess I never played the game as a kid, and I can't find anywhere where it tells you exactly how to play this thing. Please help. Thanks.

 

You get the other teams flag and bring it to your base, or where your flag spawns

 

yeah, but it doesn't work that way. that is what I thought.

There was some confusion in my guild yesterday. And I must say I saw players in a few games who clearly didn't know what to do with the flag — very frustrating to see a teammate carrying the flag AWAY from our homebase when he could score a point. I think it mainly came from the fact that some people don't realize your flag needs to be in your circle when you bring the enemy flag, otherwise it doesn't count. You need both flags in your base at the same time to score a point.
