Yup, their entire set of weaponry is useless once they let me in mid range, which is never difficult.

I can't since i lack damage and closing in on enemies makes me their #1 target. I'm pelted with mortars before I even fire my first weapon

I don't know what to tell you. I run a shooter and it's no longer twin turbo (man I'm reconsidering that). I have no shields. I'm not a huge bundle of HP. I typically have something like half the HP of my team mate shooters and often less than my speeders. At 1.2 speed mortars are annoying but hardly a life threatener... unlike my canon, sniper canon, and blast canon. When I was twin turbo my speed was 1.43 and mortars weren't even remotely a threat unless I was pinned down my multiple enemies. And honestly, if that happens I need to be looking myself in the mirror and saying, "git gudder".

Usually I do this with a lone shooter I find huddling behind some rocks and spamming his mortars. That guy is usually doomed if I find him. Sometimes I just do it right in the middle of the enemy team... not something I recommend and probably not a trick that works at higher infamies... or I'd like to believe not. I'm playing around now with napalm as a tool to cut one victim from the herd.

You know what the most annoying thing about both mortars and torps to me is? It's that freakin minute long intermission at the beginning of every match where people test if their fire buttons work. At least I assume that's what they are doing since they can't possibly think they are "in combat".

Im at 2.5k infamy (somehow idk) and players are here with T3+ Epic weapons while only one of my weapons is a t4 rare. Mortars are my worst nightmare. I have 1.24 speed and stil can't outrun the ridiculous mortar spam. Many maps are ideal for mortar users making it nearly impossible to close in on enemies with my setup. And those who don't spam mortars instantly wreck me since their weapons are superior to mine in level. I'm sick of getting my ass handed to me my P2w players and having to depend on my team to carry.

Ahhhh,..,. the problem then isn't mortars... it's the matchmaking system and with that I completely agree. I don't know why it's so jacked up, but if I play to win then I'm going to end up at 1400+ infamy in Master 1 with my newly minted M4 boat that still has uncommons on it and a lot of fairly low leveled other pieces.

I very definitely think I should not have to manage my own infamy by deliberately losing in order to keep the fights even remotely reasonable but there it is.

And even if you don't lose on purpose the game makes you lose. Rovio really messed up with the way they made weapon progression, solely based on rng. So some people end up luckier then others causing a mahor imbalance in the game.

Sure, the game probably would've made me lose also. The problem is where that losing was going to balance out. Losing is a fact of life in a combat game. What I'm interested in is good combats. "Good", to me, means I'm somewhat overmatched but if I play well and do most everything right I can win. "Good" does not mean, "If you step out from behind that rock you will be crushed like a bug."

I'm to early in the game to speak to the pains of weapon progression but all together it's the progression speed, infamy system, and matchmaking system which collectively cause this problem.
