I have noticed that sometimes when I fire on someone and it's a clear hit no damage is done. These are close range shots so I am positive I did not miss. Anyone else experiencing this?

It means that it's only a clear hit on your screen, and not on the server. It's annoying because it's not always your own connection that's the problem. I think it has something to do with where on the world the match is hosted. If it's far away you can get serious lag, even if your local internet connection is awesome.

Maybe I'm just imagining it but it seems to happen more near walls.

Like I said in the thread, there's an entire science behind it, and that's exactly what the game(client) is doing; predicting. And this is where it was wrong because of latency issues.

Latency issues have around since networking has existed, and it's very apparent in games. There's way too many dependencies to have a "perfect" connection / game environment; from the device, isp, location, server and the routing. Which is why most professional game competitions don't take place remotely.

My potato cannon has no problems with dealing damage but i have real problems with my torpedoes in semi close combat situations & dealing no damage to hackers.

The torpedoes must travel a short distance before they activate.

Hackers? It's always funny to see that excuse used. Of course, it is true that I only lose games to hackers...fact!

I have had it happen when the torpedo explodes but does not deal any damage other times it does not explode but does deal damage.

    Same phenomenon.
Scenario 1: Client shows the torpedo hitting the target, but because latency affected, what actually happened was that the torp missed the target barely and it didn't register the damage.
Scenario 2: Because you lead the shot that compensated the latency/loss, the target actually got hit.

Coming from my FPS days, I usually have to aim ahead of the lead shot, so what that means is your trying to hit a slight gap infront of the direction the target is moving (we already do that with manual aim or flicks, but it needs to lead slightly ahead of that to compensate for latency). LoL so in other words, a lead shot to compensate for the movement, then add padding ontop of that for latency.

But a torpedo can hit a wall close to a target & still do significant damage.
