Yep, I want it for faster projectile speed, better cooldown. Since EC has been rendered worthless against tesla shield, I'd rather get multiple shots off than to dump ridiculous cooldown EC shells into a tesla shield for 0 return. I had 4 games out of 6 this morning facing 4 or more yellow ships rocking max tesla shields. My epic T5 EC (2 legendary damage perks, 2 burn perks) is useless against them.

No. I would never imply that blast is OP. Neither is EC.

In my opinion EC has been nerfed to garbage. Still waiting for devs to walk back their screw-up on it. Only reason I run EC is because I don't have BC set up.

Excellent point. Also note that swift torp is easier to hit targets with, just as blast cannon is easier to hit targets with.

Flat out wrong. Splash damage from ex cannon hits for 70%. Bonus damage from fire does not apply either. Hitting for 1270 hp instead of 2400 hp is super noticeable.
Further hit detection is weird when ship is against a wall. There are multiple instances I've had where ships against a wall take no damage from an EC direct hit, the shell disappears into the wall.
Also, no, standard cannon cannot be compared to the two big shots. DPS is not the end-all be all as their are.

BC is next on my development list. If devs don't fix EC or the tesla shield, that's the gun I'm using.

 

This is why I use ec over bc:

Say they were the same levels, I would use bc for faster cooldown and projectile speed.

 

My std cannon crit dmg is higher than this xcannon crit dmg.

1) Yeah .... splash was nerfed. And, read the @SlayerofSergeants comment...

2) Splash damage can be a bonus for sure - but it's being crazy overvalued.

Let's even the scales: Take away the splash damage from the EC and adjust the dps to be more like the swift torp/big torp - 1 slot/2 slot relationship.

If they took away splash damage (and made the EC DPS 12.8% higher than the Blast Cannon), how many EC users do you think would object to trading their splash damage for 2,405 damage per shot?

Hell, I would gladly trade my EC splash damage for an extra 261 damage per EC shot (to bring it even with the BC DPS) .. despite the EC projectile speed making it harder to hit than the BC.

 

The splash is what makes it better than the bc lol and the higher dmg per shot

 

It's honestly not as good as you expect... I'm an ex cannon and blast user and I only get splash on multiple people at once every 10-15 games (event mode is another story). It could be used to hit a wall and get a little damage on nearby enemies, but honestly most people don't stick close enough to walls usually to do that.
Also, blast has higher dps than ex cannon (I was surprised when I noticed lol)

 

If you're mixing bc and ec training you're ex cannon or your bc is going to be weak

here was only one training that directly conflicted for me on lvl 25.

 

You got 'one or the other' choices on lvls 15 19 23 25 27

 

I don't choose fire dmg boost when there are other choices. Only 25 is directly between ex and blast.

 

Yea because you use both so you can't have full effect of either
