Did we ever get an explanation for EC balancing?

    Okay before anyone starts flaming this thread, this is not another buff/nerf thread for Explosive Cannon(I've unwillingly accepted the changes and adjusted my game). We are just looking for an official statement from Rovio and the Devs for the Explosive Cannon balancing.

    From the recent major updates they had, Rovio has been providing explanations as to why they did it. See examples:

    I scrolled thru Miika, Zeus and other devs posts but I didn't find any.

    How come this wasn't given a reason? I think us players deserve it.

    They're doing more damage than my t4 sniper's crit. And everyone wants that nerfed.

    Random thought.

    Since everyone wants Sniper nerfed, and Explosive buffed ...

    What if Sniper became a 2-slot, and Explosive became a 1-slot?

    All other stats remain the same. Just that change.

    T4 explodey cannon shot is only a little more damaging than a T4 sniper crit, IF enemy is on fire. Factor in reduced cooldown and the damage is less than T4 sniper crit.

    You can shoot targets across the map with a sniper shot.

    50% of the time you NAIL a speeder (and enforcers lately) with an explodey cannon, they take 0 damage because of crappy server hit registration.

    They reduced range AND cooldown. This nerf was completely uncalled for. As a big fat defender, you can't even get close enough to use it, and when you do you are already sunk because the cooldown is so slow.

    Having spent several hundred bucks on this game, (granted I'm not a whale) I have ceased any monetary transactions with Rovio.

    Regardless of what you want to see nerfed, there had better be a damn good reason to start swinging the nerf bat. There has been no feedback, no info. Only radio silence from the developers.

    This is beyond infuriating to those of us who have to re-level and re-kit our ships because the weapon we focused on was broken. It takes weeks and sometimes months to re-calibrate a playstyle.

    The silence by the developers is probably the most infuriating part of this.

    We are not asking for an apology nor we are asking to change it back. We just want to understand why it was done, at least show us some details.

    The lowered the range and increased the cooldown slightly. Try playing a yellow ship and seeing how the nerfs really affect you.

    Range I could easily deal with. Cooldown is a pain tho, 1) it doesn't allign with flare 2) added seconds have caused me not to be able to kill an enemy in time before they get heals too many times to count

    Since the Explosive / Flare combo was dominating the upper levels that was probably the idea.

    You know that "everyone" would include those asking for an explanation here, right?
    I think that speeders became more balanced after the update but the defenders became a lot damaged since explosive + flare was its main combo. Some defender buff as good as the last enforcer buff would solve the problem.
    And for those who think defender has to be weaker because it's easier to play: you are just wrong! Shooter is the easiest boat to play, you can make it versatile enough to deal with a lot of situations the defenders can not.

    Why are you acting like ec has been nerfed to the ground? A 2,2 second cd nerf and some range nerf are nothing compared to some other nerfs (frost, tritorp). I think that the nerf was ok, it was slightly too good so a slight nerf was good.
    And to be clear, i am NOT saying that i’m against devs giving an explanation of some kind.

    It's not that serious. EC is still awesome and it needed to be toned down. Everyone and their mother were using it (still are btw).

    People are still using because it takes weeks to months to level up a new weapon. My infamy has tanked 600 because of this BS nerf. The weapon is nigh unusable because of the massive cooldown.

    Imma get a lot of salt for this, but...
    Have you guys looked at the excannon? At it's size, the way it looks?
    It's clearly a weapon for a tank-class ship to carry. Where it got killed however was the fact that, to prevent speeders from using it, they increased the cooldowns for the most endangered boat on the bay right now.

    That's why defender needs a buff. It got a lot of collateral damage on its main weapon.

    Defender is a tank. It needs to be able to shrug off damage and turn its turret rapidly. I think a defence and turretspeed improvement do just fine.
