I guess I said it doesn't matter if EC is a 1 or 2 slot weapon. It was based on of those off the top of my head thoughts.
Now we can consider the effects and if you want it to be one slot, you have my support man. But really think about it. If EC is 1 slot, who would run weapons with low damage. EC is effective as hell and does have the splash damage advantage as
@PastelPiku pointed out. Plus the overall damage is the same as before which is more than blast. Reducing the slot points will cause speeders and enfos to run 2 EC setup. It makes no sense. Epics hit 1200+ and rares hit close to 1000 per shot maxed out. You really want a sure 2000 for rares and 2400 for epics damage to run by you? And there are fire combos as well. If you are lit you will receive 2500-3000 damage from 2 rares and 4000+ from 2 epics in just one cycle.
I run a speeder and imo it will make speeders OP. And you will know what double blast does with flare on a enfo. I ran against black lotus in a match and he almost destroyed me and a mk7 speeder single handedly. With EC it will be an even stronger combo making yellow boats too powerful. It will be an all EC setup fest. Enfos will definitely rule with flare and 2 epic EC setup hitting (if we consider ysl's setup) almost 5000 per cycle. Fixers won't stand a chance with their heals. It will be a new frost-torp like combo on the bay. Defenders will climb up quickly with their massive tanking abilities but will they be able to take out an enfo? Have to confirm from a defender player.
A full out brawl on the bay imo is not fun. The entire meta will be dumped in a trash can. I don't even want to think about high tier legendary ones. I haven't seen much of those in Ace 1 so yeah, makes sense to keep it 2 slot for now or at least that's my side of the story. What do you say, anything to add?
