Yellow ship names in battle

    Sometimes I see a ship name is yellow. Why?

    It's probably that your crossair is currently on that ship. Or someone told to destroy that ship.

    That just indicates that you are currently targetting that ship

    I think you are right. When I don't have lock on and the ship is my target it is yellow. When I tap lock it goes green.

    It's so you can tell which ship you are targeting when they are bunched together. Specifically for situations like that screenshot where there are two ships right on top of each other.
