Winning beasts: Fixer or Shooter?

So, you feel like winning, right? ( everyone does). Which is better at MK3 and 4 for winning matches? Shooter has high damage output, fixer... fixes.

 

I miss my mark four speeder, way faster! it doesn't make sense that ship stats get worse when you upgrade it.

 

From a team benefit standpoint (ie, "winning"), fixer hands-down. A well played fixer even of relatively low mark can make all the difference in the world. A shooter is... well... just another shooter. Even a well played one is only going to do so much more damage. And, as @TheAntiSnipe said, the damage is largely gear dependent.

Overall though I'd recommend playing the boat which suits your play style the best. My infamy skyrocketed when I swapped from shooter to speeder. Partly that's because speeders are responsive to skill but partly it's because my natural combat style fits well with a speeder. Aside from my infamy, my enjoyment of the game also went up substantially.

 

True. I think I will go with speeder. I like sneaking up on them and dumping grenades on their backs.

 

I did that today, and while I only dumped like 2 grenades, I bought my team so much time with the distraction

 

Fixer is the easiest of all boats to level up and gain infamy because it has the fewest number of items to focus on and only 1 training tree. Plus you get to exert some control over your team to win, specifically keeping the right ones alive.

 

I'm always astonished when a fixer correctly picks out the person who's actually key to winning. I'm even more astonished when that's me and I find myself deep behind enemy lines and a seemingly infinite supply of HP. I always wonder, "How the heck did he know I'd be so effective in this particular match? I'm not always."
