What items to use on what (IMO)

    cannons: efficient on every boat.
    Mortars: preferable on shooter and defender, epic on enforcer (with frost)
    Torps: shooter, defender, speeder
    Railgun: defender and shooter.
    Mines: speeder is best.
    Fire: really depends, but certain fire is good on certain setups.
    BLUE:
    Shield: everything.
    Big shield: preferable on defender and high MK ships.
    Bandage: please use it.
    Turbo: ALWAYS use past MK2
    Rudder and gear lube: who cares, nobody uses these.
    YELLOW:
    OB and Nitro: preferable on speeder, nitro for fixers.
    Frost: enforcer, good idea to pair up with mortars/ torps
    Tesla bolt: fixer and enforcer, maybe speeder
    TS: everything.
    GREEN:
    Since fixer is only ship with green...

    Bolt: fixer
    Box: fixer
    Pulse: fixer
    Duct tape: fixer and defender
