What determines your stars?

I always thought stars and the ranking after a fight was based on the damage you do and the ships you sink. However, I've had multiple instances where I did more damage and sunk more ships than a teammate but yet he was ranked above me and got more stars.

What else goes into figuring out who gets what? My only guess is that if you're fleeted up with someone you get some sort of bonus? Anyone know for sure?

 

Hey there!! There's alot of threads asking about this and they all got answered the same:
1star come from winning
1star from contributing more than the team's average
1star come from contributing more than double the team average
Contribution score includes:
Freezing
Stunning
Burning(not exactly sure how much,but let's say if you do 100 burn damage you get more contribution point than 100 normal damage)
Healing
Absorbing damage
Distracting/each shots considered by the system "fired at you" but miss

 

You seem to get more contribution for assisting other players with burn, frost and healing. So if you set a ship on fire and it takes lots of damage while burning, you’ll get more contribution. The same if you heal a ship up, and it goes on the do lots of damage afterwards, you’ll get a bonus for all that damage.
