Is this a good idea?

  1. I agree!

  2. No, but the triple lines are a good idea.

  3. No, none of it is good.

  4. No, instead, slightly randomize the torpedoes' speed and angle to make them more unpredictable

  5. I'd rather add in the random torpedoes as a Torpedo Launcher that can have more weaker projectiles.

Just an idea. What if we could adjust the spread of triple torpedoes? I'm thinking it'd be better to keep it simple and only have 2 different spreads, the original spread being the wider one. You could toggle between them by tapping the triple torpedo icon again after having it selected. In addition, it'd be nice to see 3 lines instead of just 1, indicating the trajectory of all 3 of the torpedoes, which would definitely help if you don't know which spread setting you have toggled, but would also make the spread always feel justified. What do you guys think?

I would love it if each torpedo had a random spread like Missiles (even if just the 2 outside), and a randomly different speed would be great as well.

That is an awesome idea, but with something like that, there's even more reason to give the player an option to narrow the spread for long range. With that kind of randomness, it'd be near impossible to hit your mark at long range with only the current spread lol.

My answer was "No, but the triple lines are a good idea.", because I really like @envylife 's idea, because it would be simpler to use(no accidental taps, etc.), I always wondered why there was only 1 line when aiming the tri torp.

I actually really like @envylife's idea as well. I'll add that as another option in the poll.

Tri Torp used to be the dominant weapon in the Bay when their spread was smaller and arming range shorter. Being slowed before eating all 3 Torpedos was no joke.

Their spread is as it is because nerfs in this game tend to be quite brutal --- But having said that I dont miss the craziness that was Tri Torp on half the boats. And this is coming from a guy who's only legendary is Tri Torps. But cutting the spread is obviously the change to make if they wanted to make it more useful again.

I hate the idea of random spread/speed.
I know my torps well enough to aim the outside ones, and that would only make things worse than they are for me.
My tritorps aren't looking for a nerf.
Smaller spread or shorter arming range would be lovely though.

It's not a nerf... randomly you get the smaller spread, where as you never get it as is.

It's a nerf if I can't fire where I want to man. If I have to aim only with the middle torp my tritorps will often become just two.
Edit- I think the most interesting idea for tritorps would be for them to actually travel in the 'arc' that's advertised in the weapon description. If they converged after a certain distance it could be pretty fun, though only really useful at long distance.

Maybe the random spread/speed thing would be more suited to a new item instead, like a much weaker quadruple torpedo that goes faster but is pretty much impossible to aim accurately.

Honestly, I know how you feel. I'll add a new option for having tree random ones be a new type of torp.

Nah, people including myself are too comfortable with the solid feel of the tritorp. I personally think the random one would be better suited as its own weapon.
