Torps and dummies

I really hate it when my teammate gets hit by a torpedo and he is right next to me, and I take damage for HIS stupidity. Please make it so that if splash damage would be dealt, it would all be focused on the stupid guy. EXAMPLE: guy gets hit by 2000 damage torp, his buddy takes 1000, so the guy who got hit would take 3000 damage.

 

Think about it for a sec.

 

That'd kill the torps

 

No. Splash damage dealt to nearby teammates would be brought onto the guy who ran into the torp. Splash damage would go on as usual if torp hits wall. Technically, it would become easier to sink people who are closer to other teammates.

 

IMHO the best thing about torps is that you can deal huge damage to several targets at the same time. Just making it a big point damage weapon when hitting another boat would be a big nerf

 

But if some dummy gets hit by a torpedo and other people who actually know how to dodge a torpedo take damage too, isn't that unfair? The intelligent people are being punished for something the īdiot of the team did

 

It's not about being dummy or smart, most times the guy who took the torp was focused on something else. Tell him there's a freakin' flanker or make the flanker regret what he is trying to do before he can launch his torps.
Pointing other people mistakes and calling it stupidity won't improve your game, focus on your own mistakes will

 

Here is a solution for you:
- Don't stay too close to your teammates
- Be aware of incoming torpedoes.

 

A person as smart as you are, I assume you never get hit by a torp before and definitely not stupid enough to run into mines that were placed and stayed static on water

OK. You're doing well but I have some bad news for you. In the story you relate, the dummy was you. What on earth were you doing so close to a team mate in a boat as fast as a speeder?

Here's my answer to this when it happens to me.

 

To be fair, that torp shouldn't have hit us. We considered it was coming, made a maneuver to get clear, and were quite certain that it was clear of our ship by the width of a torpedo. But we always underestimate the physical size of our ship because of the invisible extended hitbox, about 50% larger than our size.

It is opposite the speeder hitbox which exists only at the tip of the bow of the ship.

Seriously, that shooter was just an idiot.
