    Hello All,

    Today I had 10 floaters with 2 different accounts. I only play 10-20 battles a day, so 10 floaters is a lot. And thanks to them we lost 10 battles. Besides that being unfair, to, lose infamy because of it, it is just annoying. I have been told there are two type of floaters, namely the ones who want to lower their infamy, so they face opponents which are way weaker than them, so they can win more easily and complete the quests faster, plus if they win, they get more rewards. And then there are the people with a bad internet connection or speed.

    So, I wonder if it would be possible to check someones internet speed before the battle starts, so when it is too slow, the person cannot join the game. I have a simple app on my tablet with which I can check my internet speed. So, itmwould be a great asset for the game.

    And if it is possible to check internet speed, then the people who float because they want to lose infamy, they should not lose 23 or 24 points, but 4 times that.

    Best wishes,
    Flint

    I support this thread. Makes sense.

    If this can't be successfully implemented....
    Could We please limit team infamy losses when losing because of a floater?
    It makes sense. Ie. There was no 5vs5

    So if your team loses because of a floater. Instead of losing full infamy value. It will be halved. Also this will stop infamy tankers who float on purpose...ie it takes them much longer to drop. And by that time so many reports come in about them. A ban happens.

    @The Grim Repair
    Please Look at o.g. posters thoughts on floating and internet speed check.

    And my idea of reducing infamy damage due to floaters.

    Thx

    So, if I see a tough enemy/team on the opposing side its best to just roll over and play dead to lose less. There would be rampant exploiting of that immediately. It would just encourage you to float if you feel the odds are stacked against you.

    There would have to be a safe guard.

    But doesn't the server have the ability to detect poor internet. Or a disconnect?

    Your example is one of a player who saw the unfriends. And then chose to float.

    I think the more nuanced point of Flint and my discussion is...to punish purposeul floaters worse. Flint idea.

    And my idea is to take less infamy from team who has a floater.

    Combining these two thoughts would actually encourage less floating. And would make floaters more obvious and easier to detect. And report.

    @Miika
    Yes one must think of how to not let a floater get away with infamy tanking like your example. But that thought isn' incongruent with Flint or My suggestion.

    All of us want to end floating even at the 2% rate u reported in another thread. And all of us want to stop on purpose infamy tanking.
    It could very well be harsher infamy loss for floaters is what's needed. Instead of a negative 24. It's a -50. Or -100.
    And yes for team with floater who looses. They should only receive a -12.
    This equally balances both issues.
    And Flint was right. Maybe a warning comes up when a player hits battle that says. Hey your internet connection could cause floater. Do u want to proceed. Especially anything that shows up 5mbps or less. They hit yes. And then float. Punish away.

    And back to infamy tanking. If u find someone infamy tanked....miika why ban?
    How about kick their infamy down 800 points from top score and start them at earning zero stars. They won't repeat that mistake again. Just saying.
    All these thoughts are just for discussion and to spur ideas.

    In Arena of Valor, if you have shitty connection, the game warns you that you have an unstable internet and may cause problem in game and may affect you and your teammate. You can still proceed if you want to. I think that kind of feature will be useful in reducing floaters due to bad internet connection.

    I wanna suggest something, but before that, I need an answer to this question: what are all of the possible benefits of dropping your infamy?
