So today, thanks to selling the perks from the event, I've accumulated enough gold to take my Enfo to Mk6.
I have heard stories of harder matchmaking after upgrading, and massive infamy drops (to the anti tanking zone and beyond!) So I'm thinking is it worth diving in straight away and doing it, or leaving it for a while.
I have items to fill all the slots btw, and I'm around 2.2-2.5kinfamy (ace 3)

I'd focus getting all items to t4e first. I've lost many members to this curse and experienced it myself as well. As mk5 I stayed around 3600 infamy, once I went mk6 it was an instant drop and i struggled to stay over 3k. Good luck either way! Gear gear gear! :)

I'd do it half way through the new season (about a week from now) once the craziness from season reset subsides.

That huge plunge occurs due to not planning ahead. As a mk6 you need atleast 1 good TS, overboost and any third yellow item.
Secondly a T4R big shield at the least. If you don't have the items required for mk6, your will be just a mk6 equal to mk5 but matchmaker will not understand that.

Exactly! If you enjoy the game, thus far. I'd also add before mk6 focus trainers, and be within a few levels of t5 unlocks. Also, make sure you have the dups for your primary weapons. Planning is key, the fun is gone, once you realize you can't go back and should have planned a little better lol

(Even better, go ahead and have t5e at mk5, and show them just how tough, you are >:) )

I have no self control so I bought the ships as soon as I could XD I would agree that you should try to get your items up to t4e for mk6 and t5e for mk7 If you don’t want to feel strangely underpowered while also adjusting to the new ship stats.

Well my usual Mk5 loadout is double blast (T1 Leg and T4 Epic, both maxed) and swift torp (T4 rare - only epic I have ever received was from the achievement), t3E OB, T4r nitro or T3r bolt. I have the dupes for T5 of the swift torp and nitro. T2E turbo (Damn you RBGesus for these being literally the ONLY turbos I've received) and a T4r standard shield....
I'm thinking I'll leave upgrading ship for a bit, until I can get dupes of the T1r big shield (until it surpasses my standard) and t1e Tess shield.

    Cheers folks :)
(I'm not responsible if I do it tonight while intoxicated after being out on the boat haha ;) )

I didn’t notice much difference when I upgraded. I lost a bit of infamy, but that happens from time to time anyway. I got it all back fairly quickly, and a little bit more.

I'm only 2 levels away from level 40, and I only have one t4e (turbo) and a t2l (ex cannon). The rest are t2e or t4r lol. But I'm going to get mk6 as soon as I can anyways because I have no patience. How much infamy drop is expected for me?

It's different for everyone, 3 of my members fell 800 and never made it back out of seal clubbing, before quitting. I fell on the verge of 800. I've got a money member that never had the issue (his items were already acceptable, of course) another member that was only affected by 400 (more acceptable)

I dropped 700 pretty quickly, but I'm now back to where I was before (no improvement in infamy :()

I personally wouldn’t. You will have much harder matches. Harder matches meaning the game will expect you to penta every match or keep losing. For some reason that I can’t even begin to comprehend, the devs feel like mk6s should be at 1k infamy fighting with mk2s and 3s :)

Yea, right! How is that even possible? I'm Captain L47, will be eligible for MK7 in a few weeks or less and to this date I only have 4 out of 7 items at T4E, and that's only because I got a T4E small shield just last week. I'm still trying to figure out how to get a single T5 Epic Weapon. I see no way I'll have 7 T5E's before 2020, but I'm sure as hack not waiting that long to go MK7. I'm also sure I'm not going to upgrade to MK7 with my crappy load out either. See below:

My personal recommendation: As general rule for MK6, go T5 Rare items across the board, and Legendary T1 counts. Epic T3 probably ok. You'll do fine with that load out without much regression upon upgrade. If you want to advance to NNL with your Enforcer, I agree you'll need T4E's across the board.

For MK7 the recommendation is the same as the above NML: T4E's across the board with at least a couple weapons at T5E. Weapons are more valuable in this game than any Blue or Yellow item.

I upgraded to mk6 when my items were t4 rare and t3 epic, except for my blast cannon, which was a t4 epic, and my turbo(also a t4 epic).
However, I'd been to 3332 infamy in a mk5 enforcer, as well as 3308 in my speeder mk5 before. Which is why I upgraded.

Gear is not the stat you should be looking at. Its infamy.

In my honest opinion, getting a mk6 before you reach Ace 1 is folly. Its dangerous. Because, at Ace 1, no matter if you run a mk5 or a mk6, you're gonna be dealing with mk6s ONLY for the most part. Which means that you can handle anything that the game can throw at you when you actually go to mk6.
Dealing with mk6s is a whole new science, dude. Enforcers get tankier and more difficult to ignore. Defenders become absolute units. Fixers get two weps, making them a sure threat and nothing to be underestimated. Shooters become bigger shooters lol. Speeders become much, much deadlier.
If you keep going by mk5 standards when fighting mk6s, you'll end up making a string of bad decisions that will lead to constant defeats. I suggest you play with and against all-mk6 teams consistently in a mk5, before getting your mk6. Ace 1 is the only place I know where you can get consistent mk6s, so good luck!

Lol, it's 75% mk6s already at Ace 3 and 90% mk6s at Ace 2. Its any ace, really, not just ace 1.

Really tho. I don't think people understand how to handle mk6s until at least Ace 1, because that's where medium-skilled mk6s are. Let's face it, mk6s below Ace 1 are not that good.
