Tesla Shield OverHaul (Double Bubble Fix without nerfing speeder)

New tesla shield mechanic change suggestion:
~ Remove HP points from tesla shield.
~ Tesla shield always break on 1 hit
~ 4 sec self stun Removed
~ Leveling up tesla shield increases Radius
~ Tesla shield can block all direct hits from any weapon, including torps.
~ Splash damage still penetrates the shield
~ Tesla bolt still removes the shield
~ Frost still penetrates the shield
~ Tesla shield becomes solid object, therefore any weapon that can splash and hits the shield can damage enemies outside the shield.
~ Crew talents for shield HP changed to shield radius increase.
~ Perks remain to increase duration

Example of max stats ranging from common lv 50 to legendary lv 50
Cooldown: 20 seconds (Does not change)
Duration:
Common Lv 50: 7.54 Seconds
Uncommon Lv 50: 8.58 Seconds
Rare Lv 50: 9.62 Seconds
Epic & Legendary Lv 50: 10.66 Seconds
Radius: (NOTE: these are max radius. The radius of the Tesla shield in battle varies when you cast it. The user has the control to choose how big or small the shield should be.)
Common Lv 50: 1.3
Uncommon Lv 50: 1.6
Rare Lv 50: 1.9
Epic Lv 50: 2.2
Legendary Lv 50: 2.5

Rare tesla shield is very weak!

Sorry but I don't want to get dragged into this conversation. I read your post and was kind enough to share my opinion in the poll, so leave it there. Simply from the options you have given there, the option "it seems like a nerf to the item" feels the one that reflects my thoughts of your suggestion the best.

 

Now that I actually got dragged into this conversation anyway, maybe I can explain it more then lol

In my opinion the ability to increase shield HP is much more useful for the tesla shield users than the ability to increase shield radius. I get your point that there are certain ways to use this new increased radius but I still think the ability to block more than one shot is better in battle.

Now remember that I didn't still comment whether I would like your idea to be added to the game or not. I just said it feels like a nerf to me.

But I'm not the right person to decide if the tesla shield needs a nerf or not. If it does, then your idea might work just fine.

It isn't a good idea. That will basically killing tesla shield. There is little difference between a common and a legendary tesla shield. 20 secs cooldown is too high for a single shot to absorb. Current tesla shield mechanic is nice. If you can breaked the shield you will gaining a first shoot chance to user. There is a little problem with rare tesla shield, it is very weak compared to epic one.

 

ROFL, and here I am thinking that if a tesla shield could block ANY shots it'd be a ton more useful. Therein is the difference between rare and epic.

It's old setup from 2.0 version > and it's OK setup.

P2W ppl switch boat from speeder to enfo and it's OP ? ... Leave alone TS and enfo, moreover rare TS weak too weak...

Sorry if there was any confusion; by more than one shot I mean any situation when it doesn't break on the first hit (even my rare t4 tesla shield does that sometimes). Because even if your shield breaks on the first hit, it still blocked one shot, right?

 

Actually I don't know. I pretty much shelved the entire concept of a tesla shield until late game because there's zero chance of me erecting a tesla shield which would hold up to one bullet. In the early game it's typically true that a player receives WAY more damage than any possible defense could ever account for. I assumed that any "left over" damage from the blocked shot still got to you. Does it really block the whole thing even if you get stunned? If so, that's something.

In general I've thought that maybe a T5 rare tesla shield might have some use so it's on my bucket list of things to upgrade when I have nothing better to upgrade. Mostly though I've thought that anything less than a T4 epic is probably useless.

 

You will not get the excess damage from shield breaking, and nothing will ever crit on a tesla shield, making it effective against snipers

 

Wouldnt it be simpler to look at the Enforcer if you think its too strong (I think its fine, atleast meta deserves more time to adapt before anything drastic has to happen).

 

Also, concerning OP, the question is how to nerf double bubble with out nerfing mk5 enfos caring single shield.

 

As far as I know you will not receive any "left over" damage. If your bubble got 500 hp and somebody shoots you with 2000 damage railgun, the bubble will break but you will not receive 1500 damage.

 

Thanks for the opinions guys, i'm more or less surprised that people think it is a nerf. especially considering all shields get broken easily with nightmare weps anyway
