TDM Rework Suggestions

    Here are some of the common problems I'm seeing with TDM events:
    • So many mines!
    • Suiciding is rewarded
    • Melee events cause issues with old devices. Too many explosions
    • Lackluster rewards (a topic for another thread)
    I propose a few things
    1. Reduce mine duration.
    2. Coins should be weighted heavily toward kill/death ratio.
    3. Increase respawn delays
    4. Add preferences to reduce special effects and Napalm

    1. Reduced Mine duration was done very well in past events and everyone was relatively happy with it. I think this should be permanent in any respawn event, or at least TDM

    2. I understand Damage is what ultimately leads toward kills, but a player's death should temper their rewards. I had a match where I had a +3 K/D ratio (zero deaths) and the rest of my team combined had a 2/10 K/D ratio. I was 4th on the coin rewards. Look, this is TDM... there's no justification for rewarding suiciding like this. To test out my theory I played another match where I suicided, meaning I got in position to issue max damage ignoring my own deaths... I got 2 kills and 4-5 deaths, and was rewarded with 5 coins for the loss because I had top damage. Was I the biggest liability or the biggest contributor? I'd argue in TDM I was a liability... that means all 4 of my teammates aren't allowed to die more than once or twice else we risk the loss... and to reiterate we did lose. If I'm getting 5 coins in a loss and 8-10 in a win with no real strategy, why would I not suicide for the rest of the event?

    3. Respawn delays are annoying, both a punishment to the individual for dying, and a punishment to the team because there are less players to contribute. I think it should be longer in TDM than CTF, but it seems to have been reduced from the last CTF. I don't really like it, but it feels like a necessary tradeoff to temper suicider deaths which contribute to losses.
