I'm usually one of 1-3 mk3's in a match at my infamy level (~1,000) and matching up with mk4s and a few mk5s. What is the best way to adapt my playstyle to deal with them?

I'll have a lot of success with the fixer as I can stay back and do decent healing with my uncommons, but struggle with my shooter. I can't hang in canon and mortar battles, because they can have 50% worse accuracy than me and still net out more damage. Is the solution to go full long range? Or have people had success with mk3 speeders or enforcers to dodge more shots?

    Thanks

    same here 600 infamy on my reroll (mk2 lvl12 1 t2 rare, i met often mk5 with T3 epic)
i will not cry a river again for this as Rovio fucking don't care.

    so....
    avoid wide area
    avoid big hp opponent
    search the less hp boat
use focus of team : "attack" x
leadshot well is the key as majority of them are not able to aim.
in general there is mk5 on my side too, they are in general useless at start of battle as they wait lowbies to go fight before... (yes they are truely bastards, funny to see a def with 4K hp waiting my def 1500 hp to go fight...)

Your strategy should be to be in protective mode at all times. Since you are outgunned on every level, try to hang back an snipe. Be in a place that has cover immediately and don't lead any charges. I got an epic LRM early on and have used that consistently for a long time. Not a lot of damage but you can peck away at opponents only within sniper range. No other weapons have that range. It is tough, but taking this approach will teach you a lot about the maps and how to assist your team without exposing yourself too much. You can only get what weapons the game gives you really, but under your current setup, you should probably have some longer range weapons with at least one close up high power weapon. The game has given me 7 Rare Blast Canons, so guess what my up close weapon of choice is? Good luck!

I've run into this situation as well. Think the most important item to have on a shooter is a turbo. That way you can get out of mortar range and snipe then duck back behind cover. At the start of the game I gauge how good my teammates are and what map we are on. I try to follow my team if they are competent. If not (Aka they run straight for the enemy without cover) I go my own route that actually has cover. Most important thing to get victories is to help your team. In these situations I try to go to the side of the enemy and draw out fire. On each map you can find areas that have protection against mortar. Basically I sit in that area shooting the enemy until I draw their agro. If you can get one or two guys to chase you then you kite them back around to your team. This only works if you STAY ALIVE, so you have to be good at positioning and deciding when you run back. If that works, it causes the enemy to split up and thus splits their firepower. This is really effective if they have healers and defenders since you can usually outrun them. I'm not sure what your weapon setup is but Sniper is a must. Personally I got a T2 epic cannon so I use that as well. If you can consistently output 4k+ damage a game by surviving longer you will move up infamy!

As a player that is still outclassed and gunned at 2300 infamy as a Mk4, I have found as a shooter it is best to hang a little bit back at the start of the game. As you'll have a smaller health pool than everyone else if you are spotted first you'll be the focus target for sure. So try let someone with more hp take the brunt of it so you can focus on landing every shot. This helped me as mk2 against 3s, And now as a 4 vs 5s.

Also at your level not many people at your level use comms very well. If you are using a weapon like Big torpedo, Railgun, or Big Berta, make sure if you land a nice big hit on someone, use the "attack" button to alert everyone that there is a low to target for easy focus fire. This also work if an enemy has strayed away from their team and will be a sitting duck if you all attack it. The "together" doesn't work too often and most people are terrible at listening, but it is very rare for someone to pass up and easy kill to pad their stats with ;)

Appreciate the replies everyone! Since I am so close to mk4's I decided to level up my speeder to give it a go while waiting on the last 2 trainings until 22. Unfortunately, I only have double rares for blues at the moment, but its nice to get a use out of the tier 2 overboost. I'm actually really enjoying the speeder and can capitalize a bit on some of the things people have mentioned such as sit back (I use a sniper) at the start, call out weakened enemies (call them out and also flank to pick them off as speeder) and the movement helps me duck away.

My damage isn't very high with a tier 2 uncommon sniper and tier 1 rare cannon, but its ok. Just gotta hope I get a decent rare red soon to finally start getting some more damage in.

Rovio's answer is: Don't play with a secondary boat before you have upgraded it accordingly.
I still think that an infamy rating per boat type would be a good idea.

Btw, I think the matchmaking did a good job when it did put the Mk6 into your team to counter your low-level Mk1.

    2 way :
offensive mode : run into opponent, make damage, die...fight are quick, you can farm faster...
defensive mode : each time someone hit you...run away (need a good speed)
