Sniper perks: Crit +% Vs Crit +dmg

I think increasing the chance of your weapon to land a critical hit is more important than increasing the damage and having a low critical % chance.

Some say "but your critical hits will do more damage"

Let's say your sniper has crit +% chance perks giving you a 25% chance to crit and does 300 damage. So every 1/4 shots (theoretically) should do 600 damage.

Now let's say your sniper has crit +% damage perks. So your chances to crit at 10% but your crit damage is 700. So every 1/10 shots (theoretically) should do 700 damage.

Out of 10 shots (theoretically) your snipers will do:

Sniper with crit +% perks: 37,500

Sniper with crit +dmg perks: 34,000

So statistically speaking, with 100 shots you are doing 35 less damage with every shot of your sniper.

What perks do you guys use on your snipers?

 

I'm trying to decide if 10% more crit damage is more effective then 1.5 critical hit or something lol I forgot exactly. They're both crit perks but different

 

Wait for the 5% crit chance perks. They show up time to time and cost around 500k. And the 1.5%'s are uncommon perks for all cannons but there are perks for sniper only that gives you 2.5 at uncommon.

 

So my 10% more crit damage is better?

 

Probably better than a 1.5 crit chance haha

 

I increased my snipers crit chance with perks and I am currently boosting my crit dmg with training bhurt for the 2nd +25% crit dmg boost

 

You should use a combination of both but lean towards the crit chance more.. I use 1 rare crit chance, 1 epic crit chance and 1 epic crit damage on a near max rare T5. I havent noticed the crit damage I do in this update, but before I used to do 1,100 damage per crit. Normal damage would be 350-450 depending on who you are targeting. Very decent weapon imo.

 

Math is off, but the result doesn't change if you fix it. (your crit damage with crit damage perks would not be 700, the equivalent crit damage perk to a 5% crit chance perk would be 15% crit damage, so with 3 of them you'd have 45% extra crit damage, which makes the multiplier 2.45, meaning 735 crit damage)

I calculated this with a base crit of 20% and a base crit multiplier of 2.5 (which is what you have with some Bhurt training done) and it's still best to take 3 crit chance perks.
I also calculated this with epic perks, and it's still best to take 3 crit chance perks
I also calculated this with 4 perks, and it's best to take 4 crit chance perks

Conclusion: sniper crit chance perks are too good, making crit damage perks pointless on sniper. Since they are also pointless on everything else, I don't see why they even exist.

Well, from a DPS or average hit standpoint, that is false. There is no situation in which a crit damage perk increases either.

 

Well can't be so precise becaue everyone has different choices for training bhurt but I believe I made it pretty average

 

Is this also true of other weapons like Cannon? is it always better to go with the Crit Chance? Also is there some way of knowing what the crit damage of a weapon is? the stats show what the crit chance is but not the crit damage/damage increase.

The base is double damage, 100% extra damage on crit. And yes, that means crit chance will be better than crit damage, but for a regular cannon the crit chance perks are so low that you're better off just taking a damage perk and not bothering with crit at all.

 

Sniper already has a high crit chance. Plus added bonuses from training that is why it's good to add perks to it's already high crit chance. Cannons have a 1% crit chance so you're better off adding damage or +damage to burning enemies

 

Yeah...Right now I also have Sniper Canon with 10% crit chance.....But once u train Bhurt to tier 4/5, then u can get total of maybe 85% crit chance, which is a lot...Just got to tier 3 Bhurt, now going for tier 4.

 

85% is not possible. The most anyone could ever get a sniper's crit chance is 45%.

4 epic crit chance perks (+7.5% each)
5% base.
10% from training.

45% chance to crit.

Thanks that's helpful info! so let me try some math and correct me if I'm wrong.
My cannon is epic lvl 20. This gives me 3 perk slots.
with no perks it has a dmg of 260 with a 1% chance to do double (so 520)
so every 100 shots = 26,260 (99x260 + 1x520)

With 3 damage perks at 3%. I'm assuming those add together rather than multiply? ( 260x9% = 283.4 vs 260 x 3% x 3% x 3% = 284.1 )
260 x 1.09 = 283.4
1% chance of double = 566.8
so every 100 shots = 28,623.4 (99 x 283.4 + 566.8)

With 3 crit chance perk at 1.5% increase.
so every 100 shot = 260 x 94.5% = 24,570
520 x 5.5% = 2860
= 27,430 ( 24,570 + 2860)
I'm not sure what the Crit dmg perks are but I'm not doing the math on that because I'm sure irt sucks. haha. looks like you were right.


Conclusion: Go with Dmg perks on your Cannon but Crit chance on your Sniper!

 

A lot mistake that. I had a level 39 friend think that crit damage % perks were the same at crit chance % perks haha. Common mistake

 

1.5 uncommon 3.0 rare 4.5 epic (cannons)

 

@Clintastic I believe the damage % from perks stacks additively with damage % from crew training... the conclusion is the same though if you account for that

 

no, never take crit damage perks on sniper cannon always go for crit chance (SNIPER CANNON CRITICAL HIT CHANCE) perks (fullstop, the end)
