Redo of the same friends vs unfriends match with players joining at different times

This has happened to me 3 times now. All have been double losses for me. A match ends and I re-queue for the next match. It starts with exact same friends and unfriends from the last match. The problem is not all players join at the beginning and slowly filter in if ever but many boats are already dead by that time. By slowly filter in, I mean their boat is there but it is just a floater until they join. It is like the matchmaker locked in the match and started with the first player to queue but other players didn't queue again immediately and don't join until they do. This results in a very disjointed 2nd match.
