Does anyone know what exactly the Sticky Targets option does when selected vs unselected?

When its selected your aim sticks to the enemy as soon as it appears on radar and its very difficult to change your aim unless u change the direction of ship and what not. On the other hand when its not selected your aim still sticks to the enemy when it appears but this time you can easily change your aim by just flicking your aim to some other direction. The only use of sticky aim is to continiously shoot a wounded ship when it tries to hide in middle of other ships

Do you remember pressing your fire button, and at that exact same time the target changes to a random ship and your shot goes wasted in between? Sticky targets solves exactly that by making it a semi-target lock. The drawback is that its slightly harder to change targets when you want to, but nothing unbearable. I'm using sticky targets and no regrets.
