I tried 5 inch android phone, iphone 6s+ (5.5 inch), ipad pro 9.7 inch , microsoft surface 3 (10.8 inch) , 24 inch widescreen pc monitor.
So far i like the ipad best although the grip is rather uncomfortable. the surface is just unplayable due to emulator lag.

I will buy a 8 inch android tablet tomorrow and i have a feeling i will like that one the best.

What do you guys think the optimal size?

I've tried iPhone 6s, and iPad 2 air. And I agree, iPads are too big to be comfortable. iPhone 6s is too small. I think my sweet spot would be something like an iPhone plus, or an iPad mini (but they are too old and slow now..)

Btw im not just talking about grip comfort, but optimal size considering best view ( i find it difficult to see stuff like torpedo coming when using small screen and fingers block some view)

I would say a 7 or 8" tablet is the perfect area, so the Nexus 7, 8" Kindle variants, NVIDIA SHIELD K1, or iPad Mini. Small enough to be easily held, but not too small that you get a crowded HUD or fingers in the way.

    I think a bezel-less 7" would be perfect.
I've tried the iPad mini 2 and was almost perfect. Purchased the iPad mini 4 and it was a bit taller then the iPad mini 2.

It's "fine" but makes it somehow uncomfortable.
7" without bezels would be perfect but it doesn't exists yet (i think?)

I play on either an iPhone 7 Plus or an iPad Mini 4.
Both are running it flawlessly, not slow at all.

iPad Mini 4 wise, tweak the controls so that they are similar to the iPhone in terms of thumb distance from the bezel. It really depends on how big your hands or how long your fingers are.

7" screen with low resolution looks terrible. I sometimes use a 7th gen Kindle Fire. It plays surprisingly good.
Most of the time I'm on a v20, I think 6" would be great. that's what she...
