Edit: this was from long time ago. It's gone now. Evaporated into 500k gold. The yellow pieces may evaporate into leggy parts.

Edit again: oh yeah, forgot about the rudder perk I got as well. It's gone now too.

I think the trick here is too open all perk boxes first, instead of pieces. Epic perks are just a tiny bit weaker than the legendary counterpart, so you get 3 chances per 910 coins to get the perk you want (or 1050 for 4 chances), instead of going for legendary pieces and only get 1 chance per 910 coins.

Once you've farmed all the perks you need, then only switch to pieces so it won't hurt so much.

 

The battles required to get 900 coins get you like 2~3M gold already lol.

 

I spent 1800 bc still didn't got single epic or rare tesla shield perk. Just hard luck. you can be Smart but RnG is smarter.

 

Dreading to think which one I'm gonna get. Probably mortar too, knowing my luck!

I can easily 1-up you. I have two of them... my only two Legendary Perks. I put one on a weak mortar I use occasionally. I'm really torn about putting the other on my Legendary Standard Mortar... putting crap on top of crap doesn't exactly turn it into gold.

 

Better then letting it rot...

Not so sure about that. If a better perk comes up in the shop and it takes me 100 Pearls to unload and sell a Legendary Perk, it's nearly unjustifiable. It's the tragic flaw in Legendary Perks that we can't even try it on one item and transfer it later without taking a huge hit of 4x the cost of unloading an Epic Perk. I rarely even use Standard Mortar for Standard Mortar quests, because it reduces my effectiveness... it's just a bad weapon.

Suprisingly, rovio gave me what I wanted, the cannon dmg crit perk. I rolled 910 coins yesterday and got 3 epic + 1 legendary cannon dmg crit perk (yes all the same perk), I'm happy rng was stuck there

 

I have three rudder perks /three reach mortar perks /three wildfire perks (at least wildfire perks are useful)
