I am new to the game so can some veterans or anyone can help with some questions. Additional inputs are all welcome.

AFK? Most acronyms are lost by me.
What is point of defence? Are 2 points > 25 hp for shields?
What is crit damage? At what HP is a player consider in critical situation? What is % chance of crit means?
What is % chance of setting target on fire?

    Thanks all for inputs.

Afk = away from keyboard, but in this game they're also called floaters. So what's a floater? That's someone who doesn't move and shoot during a match, they're just standing still.

2 points of defense is kinda useless. How does defense work in this game? If a shot has 100 power, and you have 2 defense points, the shot will do 98 damage, so you're better of with just increasing hp.

Critical damage is just what you get after a critical hit. A critical hit basicly does doubles damage. %chance of crit just indicates the odds of landing a critical hit. Some weapons/perks and captains can increase critical hit and damage even further.

%chance of setting target on fire is basicly the same as a critical hit.

Every shot has a chance to be a critical hit. It is determined by the system and there's a percentage of the time that it will hit as a critical hit instead of a normal hit. You do nothing different. It is all calculated behind the scenes.

Crits are not based on HP. You can see them as a dice roll when you fire certain weapons, every shot has a small chance to crit. This chance can be seen in the information window of the weapon, and can be boosted with perks and certain crew trainings.

Thanks SleazyP. If that's the case, I can buy the perk now.

    Thanks @Maithan

    AFK- away from keyboard
Defense points directly reduce the dmg you take from point based weapons. Enemy cannon does 150 normally and only does 148 to you.
Crit is chance based extra dmg. The higher your crit chance, the more often you crit. The higher your crit dmg, the more you do when you do crit.

Thank you @DrLuigiPhd . I am guess a crit perk is good for cannon and sniper since it's accurate and fire often?

The sniper specific one give a little more crit chance and is worth it. I think for the rest of the cannons, raw dmg is better.

I agree with luigi, on a sniper canon, increasy critical hit% as much as you can, for other weapons, don't even bother with crit perks. For the other canons, just give them more damage
