New censor could use some improvements

Dear Devs and fellow Bayers,

Since the latest update a new censor has been introduced, sadly censors are necessary in this world. But this censor is soooo much worse than the old one. You can now say all kinds of foul words, which would be censored with the old filter. This old filter worked pretty good. Okay, people found a way around it sometimes, but now you can say shit, gay, and much worse things and the censor does nothing at all.

BUT the censor removes normal sentences, words, names, etc. It looks like an Orwellian filter, where the computer determines what we can or cannot say.

Here are some examples which got removed:
- I could not ask what time it was in South-Africa,
- I could not say 12000 or 2000 in numbers
- I could not say how someone was doing
- I could not say something about uncommon, rare and epic parts
- I could not answer to some players at all, all messages got removed
- I could not use the name of a player called Reorge from India at all, I believe nobody could


The old censor was pretty good in comparing. Is it possible to bring it back or make adjustments, so we can have normal conversations.

I agree wholeheartedly with this. This new sensor system is nothing but downright infuriating. Normal words and phrases just get sensored for no reason, and everything you have typed, from a short phrase to an essay, just disappears wherever the system somehow thinks you typed a profanity. This is especially so for player names; I've seen someone with an automatically given name (AdjectiveAnimalNumber) that no one can reply to.

There was even an old thread about it here: https://forum.battlebay.net/threads/new-censorship-has-made-a-lot-of-people-unhappy.20129/ However, the thread creator wanted the old sensor system back for a perculiar reason of "violent roleplay" so there weren't many constructive comments towards the issue itself. Still, I hope the devs seriously consider changing things up. (It would be great if they could just use the old sensoring system, but they have made it clear in the previous thread that they are never bringing it back.)

 

Or you can just think up codes. Much easier.

Although the stuff that is censored for absolutely no reason, it is pretty * bass boost*ing ridiculous. If you're typing some kinda essay up and there is ONE thing that *bass boost*es the filter off, the ENTIRE thing gets deleted. That would make a RIDICULOUS amount of people angry if it happened to them because they spent all that time typing it up only for it to be censored

 

Also the only time I got absolutely annihilated by people. Nice one.

It would be funny if the bass boost was actually heard. If you've heard a bass boost before it's ridiculously funny when placed right.

 

But why do you say Jesus yourself if you accuse someone else of cussing? It can hurt others as well using a name of someone they believe in.

Quite right, I read in a post here 'they will never change it back' and I misread the meaning behind it. I have read the link where it has been said, but it was about violant roleplay, which I really don't get why someone wants to do that here. A joke is fine, but the are limits to what we should say.

And it is so easily to be pulled into conspiracy thinking if we do not watch ourselves. (especially with insomnia it affects the mind)

The best censor is just common sense, if you use it, then we would not need a secondairy filter at all. But sadly the world is not that perfect.

 

To be honest, there needs to be a middle ground that is found. Not ridiculous ( censoring unnecessary things) or too weak ( being bypassed by accent symbols).

Like In fortnite. I don't quite want a rocket launcher ( at that specific moment. I always want one. I prefer C4 for messing around ) but I don't want a pistol. So I get an assault rifle.
