My Return to Battle Bay (re: punishment algorithm)

Hi guys. I just registered on the forum since I don’t know what else to do. I really want to get back into Battle Bay, but the punishment algorithm has taken ahold and won’t release me! Here’s a breakdown of my whole situation:

PAST:
I began playing B.B. way way back when you could still buy items in the shop and you used items, not parts, for upgrades. I played about 1700 matches all the way through the giant update that reworked the entire progression system and added dubstep (lol!). I uninstalled BB the day my son was born. I was at 2700 infamy with an MK5 Enforcer with L40 rare weapons and L30/40 rare blues and yellows. My captain level was 30.

PRESENT:
Now that my son is sleeping through the night I decided to boot up good old B.B. and my how you’ve grown! I love the gear score system, even if sometimes it’s obviously wrong or glitching, I think it’s a big step in the right direction. The guild quests are cool too. The healing beam is great. I dive right back in, and all the muscle memory skills are making reconnections. But I quickly realize, I am grossly outgunned! My crappy rares were being matched against L50 epics and a heavy sprinkling of legendaries.

Upon inspecting each opponent after my losses, it was obvious. These guys had put in 5 to 10 times more game time than myself up to that point. Of course! The infamy range around 2700 was now full of elite ships, and my Enforcer from 9 months ago was no match. So I dropped. And dropped. And then something funny happened. My rewards for each match disappeared. And the matchups never would award stars no matter my performance. My descent was good, I thought, as soon as I leveled off my opponents would be similar to myself. But it stopped at matching me up against anyone around 2000 (+/- 200) infamy and won’t dip beyond that. I read all about the seal clubbing penalty box. I’ve yet to learn if there’s any way out.

PROBLEM:
Even at around 2000 infamy, I am consistently outclassed by 3, 4, or all 5 of my opponents. This is a problem since it’s keeping my win rate well below 50%. Why is that a problem? Eventually, with no opponent change, my infamy will drop to zero. I eagerly awaited the season’s end to see where I’d be placed. Nope. Still in Ace II. Somehow right at the bottom of the list at 1200 as my ‘high’ where I was at season change. Today I broke through the 1000 infamy floor.

Well folks, what should I do?

 

level up ur blue yellow red rare items to level 40

 

I think i remember you from game.Focus on achievements is all i can say by using only the best weapons.They give rare, epic for dupes and a good legendary if you play long term.
Enforcer is best boat RN,it got a buff so luckily you are using a good boat.

@CheekyDevilGod also returned and faced a terrible drop.

It will take a while till you get used to new matchmaking and blend in as a player.As for rewards they will be restored back once you demoted in the next season i guess..

 

Keep playing, simple as that, whatever happens, don't stop, no rewards is a good thing cause this means you can't level up.your gear and you will continue dropping till you reach a level where your current gear score and skills can handle.

The infamy table only takes into account your highest infamy of the season. Which means if you reached 1.7k some 1 year ago and refused to play hoping to get a demotion, you'll continue to remain in the same league.

Same goes for the punishment algorithm, so just keep playing and keep dropping (not intentionally though) and next reset or the one after that, you'll be where you should be.

One good thing about coming back after a long time is you stop giving a damn about infamy which is good.
