I think you should be able to choose and lock a target that you can’t see. This would avoid so many of the targeting issues that are caused by ships moving in and out of vision.

Obviously, while you can’t see the target, your targeter will just remain zeroed, or behave normally, but when the target moves back into vision, the lock will automatically resume, rather than having to re-aim, and potentially end up bouncing between different targets at a critical moment.

why would you say that ? it is a nerf for fixer ,but speeder ?I don't think so , cause they already show up before their team .

I have had this idea before but I didn't post it because probably posting it will do nothing and also it is so bad for fixers .

Speeders often rely on appearing unexpectedly to fire off a couple of shots before disappearing again.
With the new turret speeds if lock is automatic it'd spell disaster for many of us.
Absolutely a hard nerf for fixer too.

There's got to be some sort of compromise here. I am routinely CLEARLY targeted by unfriends that I cannot see at all. How do I know they can see me? The nonstop mortar and firebomb rings following me as I move to dodge them. Again, I can't see anybody, but it appears as though the entire unfriend team can see me. I'd like to hear a devs response to this. Replays are worthless since you can see everyone at all times.

While that’s true, I think it would also be a much greater benefit to Speeders. While Speeders do like to pop out, and are difficult to hit because they’re fast, they’re not usually difficult to lock because they tend to operate alone. On the other hand, a Speeder will often be popping out and trying to single out a damaged ship amongst a group. That’s exactly the kind of situation that sends the targeter spinning. Being able to lock that ship before they’re exposed would be huge asset.

The way vision works is this:

If a single unfriend can see you, the entire team of unfriends can see you.

If an unfriend lose line of sight of you, you disappear about 5 seconds after that point.

Based on these rules, it is entirely possible for a sniper to pick off someone super far away with his RG if their speeder has vision on that unfriend.

Obstacles also affect vision. In my experience, if you're higher than the obstacle, you're visible.

And I thought the devs hated speeder. If you don't like bounce just turn off auto aim

Appreciate the response, but if an unfriend can see me, why can't I see them? Why can I see mortar or other weapons being fired from over a wall on what appears to be clear water if I can see the water clearly? As an example, say I'm inside the ring in Crude Awakenings and looking out one of the openings with a grenade view. It doesn't make sense that I can see weapons being fired but no unfriends are viewable/able to target.
