What I mean is, its been done many times before, but the majority of the playerbase don't get that far before they get mk5. I've seen a legit mk2 at 1900, and at 2000 I see mk4 speeders, fixers, and the occasional shooter, but only about every other match...

That's a bit higher than the curve. It's higher than I could probably get if I tried to get higher. I'm bumping 1500 as I approach 30 and could probably go to 1700 or so. Miika gave us a handy chart recently that'll show you where you are on the curve:

Average for 2000 infamy is level 32.
Level 29 puts you in top 5%

We can't really know because we don't have charts from that era. As near as I can tell the landscape has changed dramatically in recent memory.

Yeah true. I would definitely be facing all mk6 and maybe some 7 if that was now haha. At the time, it was a mixed bag of mk5-6. Never saw a mk4 as high as me during that time tho, I don't think I even saw one above 2.5k. I mastered the role of distractions, scouting etc and dealt bottom damage every game lol

Heh... that happens now at roughly 1250 infamy. Sure, every now and then I run into another M4 but mostly it's M5's and M6's. And yes, the reward for my success is bottom slot every time. It's good to know that the more things change... :)

Once you get mk5 and t4 rares, you can actually start to compete lol

That's basically my plan. I just crossed level 30 yesterday but I won't be upgrading my boat until I have a rack of R40 gear or better to put on it. Then I'll at least be at the bottom end of competitive gear for 1250+ infamy. My general sense is that things don't really change much after that.

I regularly see mk5 shooters above 3k with t4 rare gear, so I think you can do the same if you care to :)
And while you might think they arent doing much damage, that'd be wrong. Sometimes they do upwards of 30-40k lol

I completely agree. It seems to me that somewhere around 1500-ish everything just becomes the same. That's where you start seeing all M6 opponents and so if you can fight at 1500 then you can, in theory, fight at 3500. I just don't dare push my infamy up until I'm certain I can handle the potential seal-clubbing penalty should it turn out to be a lucky bubble.

Isn't the orange line the maximum, not minimum line?

Yup. The way they show the chart "high level" is "good" whereas most of us would see it the other way around. So you just need to reverse the order of the percentiles.

That is my hope. Skill is pretty clearly not the issue at lower infamies. The spread in gear is just way too overpowering for that. That's why I stopped caring about infamy and just started grinding. My only real goal now is to escape the mess that is lower infamy not to "win" at it.

My salvation is that there is a cap to gear and I'm getting closer and closer to it. At some point my gear and the gear of the people I'm fighting will start to look like we actually ought to be in the same combat. I use @TheAntiSnipe as a reference point. He fights around 2600 infamy in his M5 with R40 gear. I suspect he's also significantly better than me. But at least I know what sort of gear it can be done with. He [soft] tanks to keep his infamy at that level so assuming I can get his skills then I assume I'll do the same.

Lol as someone who did the same thing and was so close to coming close to him at a point, until i became inactive, good idea. He got to 1700 with a mk4 with tier 3 rares, I think but at that time when I started it wa smuch easier, even I got to 1000 at mk2. But he is very skilled with his speeder, watch his videos, his items are only slightly better than mine, but he knows tactics. He also isnt a dopey person like me and specialised early on with speeder, He also kind of grinded sugar to get a tier 4 flare
