Is It Ever OK To Capture?

Kind of a loaded question.

There's a map we all, bit I wan't say, where it's easy to get in the capture zone and either beat off the team for a capture victory, or beat them down down until you can leave the safe zone and dominate them.
I feel bad when I lead the team in, we capture and get 10k less gold for winning.

Is a safe, lower reward win, better than taking the chance? Am I screwing the rest of the team out their rewards?
*most of the time others do come in the capture zone so I'm not doing it alone, although I have.

 

It's always situational. Example: your 3 teammates right by capture area and 2 teammates split off and meet ALL 5 enemies on opposite side of map and they have no speeders, capturing will most likely get you the win. Or 2 speeders vs 0 speeders on chill zone, speeders go straight to capture for an easy win

 

Personally, I'll take a capture over -24 any day.

If there aren't any other speeders, sometimes I'll boost quickly to the capture zone, sit in it for a few % so the unfriends see the timer, then boost away somewhere else to ambush them. Sometimes you get a couple of people break off to investigate.

 

That started out my strategy. Getting in the circle forces them to do something different. But sometimes they don't and you can just stay there.
Before I posted I was in unsaid map and with the capture clock being near the joystick I didn't see it count up while fighting, I guess we stayed long enough for the win. There was at least one other player that followed

 

Capture is a tool, not a weapon if you know what I mean. Use it to force out those fleeing speeders, use it to split unfriends, etc, etc...

Was in the map, in the capture zone and stepped out because I had taken one ship, and a friend sunk another. Then things got FUBAR!
I should've won with a capture, I lost this battle single handedly.

 

I mostly use it to drag people out of tunnels and from under roofs because I use mortars.

 

Definitely not the preferred way of winning but I'll take the +24 and move on.
I also agree that the green circle can be used as a tool to draw unfriends out or even gather your team together.

 

Some maps i like to fight at the capture. If i have to capture i will but lets say u see me say

Attack together capture
Dont mean i wanna capture. Means i wanna fight there.

Also i use it at end of matches when the speeder wants to play tag. Fuck that.
