Totally agreed. Being able to select who you are trying trying to communicate with would really help. Something I want to be able to do is attract attention to
other teammate's in trouble. "SOS" attracts attention to me, but if I could press "SOS" and select someone else, maybe it could say "HELP [Player]!" That's rudimentary to the point of being ambiguous though ... Am I asking for his help, or am I asking others to help him? Drawing blanks on what better single-word message to put in the place of "help". I am convinced "assist" will be just as much of a problem... ah whatever. You get my point.
If you will allow me to digress for a moment, this reminds me of a famous dangling participle:
"I once met this man with a wooden leg named Smith ..."
To which the reply is: "What was the name of his other leg?"
More commands that would be helpful:
Rally at [point of map] (perhaps you could tap on the map to do this.) So far "Attack" "capture" "together" doesn't exactly do the trick sometimes.
Fall back. "SOS" "together" is so far an ineffective substitute. Could also select a teammate to suggest they not become a martyr. Then if they do still run out and get themselves killed, it would couple up as a silent "I told you so." =P
Flank. It would be nice to either tell others you are attempting to flank and distract the opponent, also sometimes to tell others when they have a nice opportunity to flank and/or try and get someone to flank with you.
-------
An unnecessary (but still worth noting) idea would be to be able to select a teammate and use "together" and have it say "Follow me, [Player]."
Might also be worth noting being able to use "Flank" on an opponent AND a teammate to suggest "[Friendly], distract [Unfriendly]".
Like you said, this level of communication is probably completely unnecessary in higher level games, but it's still nice to have regardless. Any level of communication that isn't a free-typing chat is still an improvement in my opinion.
@Excism: The destroy selection feature mentioned in that thread would be umpteen times more convenient than the current one. Those fixer huddles make getting the right command very difficult.
