I think there needs to be some mercy for a player wanting to play a new boat (Infamy loss)

I'm not saying it has to happen fast. Give it a few weeks, or several dozen games played, or whatever. But at some point, the punishment for dropped infamy has to go away. And it should be predictable, so that you know how long you have to gut it out before the game stops slapping you. I know this will be controversial, because there are a lot of scumbags who like to do this even now when rewards are severely cut off, but come ON.

Also, I know one comeback is "just alternate play between your usual boat and the new boat" but that's not really as easy as it's made to sound. The specialized gear for the boat I want to play is of such a low level that, at my current infamy level, I won't survive long enough to get any meaningful practice. So I would FIRST have to lose enough games to get down to a survivable infamy level, THEN play enough games to get some meaningful practice, THEN get back on my regular boat and grind back up to my usual infamy level and ONLY THEN could I actually play some games in which I can earn decent rewards.
