How high can pings be before it starts interfering with game play?

Depends what you're used to and how well you can compensate for lag, but I'd say 100ms would be my absolute max personally. If you have 500ms ping, you might find yourself asking how that guy shot you through the rock/wall/etc. Well, on his screen you hadn't made it behind the wall yet, so you were fair game.

100ms absolute max? I've never seen the game go below 160 ms (And i'm on 100 mbit fiber, with 8ms ping to the norwegian interconnect and 15ms ping to google.com)

    I play at 200-400 pings.

Is that why I keep losing or am I just using that as an excuse for playing poorly?.

I'm at 50ms and that's on the crowded office WiFi. At home I'll dip down between 20-30ms.

200-400ms will definitely impact your ability to lead shots as well as cause the "getting hit behind cover" phenomenon I mentioned earlier. Think of how far a ship on Overboost would travel in a quarter or half-second - then think about how far a Speeder moves with a shot of Nitro.

Yeah, sorry. It appears the Battle Bay servers are located in the USA, so anyone not on the same continent will suffer worse ping as a result.

Basically how smooth or laggy your game goes. Mine is usually at 120-130 and I run smoothly. You can check by clicking top left and seeing your ms at the bottom

    Ping: 346ms
    Ping -
This is the delay time between actions in fact and when they are displayed.
Always play with 280-500 ms :( (3G internet)

Thanks and I hope they nerf the firebomb. They're actually pretty annoying

They're not annoying. They just offer way more than they should which makes them overpowered. They could be easily balanced. And no problem :)

Please no responses to this. Find a thread on firebombs and tag me using @ if you'd like to discuss.

I have a 1Gbps fiber connection but I only get an average of 150/160ms.
US players will get better ping since the server the game is using is based in the US (Amazon Cloud server).
European players will get higher ping and I assume Asian players, even more.

Tried using a VPN and reroute my connection to the US, same ping.

If they add a server in each continent we would get better ping but as of now, it is the best we can get.

I'm in NYC my ping is always above 50ms

I don't think it makes a difference as long as your ping doesn't get so low it can't connect at the rate needed.

WOW ! Must have tons of interferences.
Either way, high ping or low ping, if your internet is fast enough for data transfers, it's good enough =)

500ms from NYC is horrible, anything over 50ms from there would make me already search what is wrong with my connection.

And yes, it does make a huge difference. 500ms is pretty much the limit for "absolute garbage experience". You get a lot of missed shots, everything happens with a delay and it's difficult to hit just in general. You live very close to the server and people literally from other side of the globe are having half the latency as you
