So we got given the ol' Missle Launcher quest once again... We are a fairly new guild mostly MK4s and nobody has a solid missile launcher yet. So this darn quest every time it comes around it ends up taking 10 Really active members 3 days of grinding to finish the darn thing. 3 DAYS of ALL DAY pushing on one single quest SMH. Please help with any tips on the quest, everyone hates it in my guild I'm also curious if we are the only ones that really struggle on this particular quest.
    I appreciate all input.
Also I did check out "WaveBlowers" video on YouTube but there's not that much else out there on this weapon.

I hated the ML for a long time too, I kept one only because but now it's one of my main weapons. Thing about it is : it's very weak at first, but eventually it can become very powerful. You'll need a few things.
    - Train Blastian. I don't remember which level gives you the 4th missile, but it makes a huge difference. For me, that's when I started liking the ML (I don't have the 5th yet). The dmg and cooldown bonuses are nice too, and obviously leveling the thing up will help, but go get that 4th missile ASAP. It's like a +33% dmg boost.
    - Know your range. The ML is a mid-range weapon. You can launch it at long range, but the scattering usually means only one missile will hit (if one). So in a long distance fight, it's basically like a sniper rifle with a 0% chance for a critical hit. Not very good. At mid-range, though, it's lethal. It goes over waves and structures, but much, MUCH faster than a mortar, so it's almost impossible for most ships to avoid being hit. When the target isn't too far away, missiles don't scatter much, so there's a good chance of inflicting a huge amount of damage : mine is E31, I often deal in the 1000-1200 range with one shot, and the cooldown is relatively fast (around 8 sec, I think).
    - Practice. Get used to the speed of the thing. No need to explain further, here.
    - Accept your faith. There is a random component in the ML scattering. Sometimes it will go your way, other times it will make your missiles miss entirely. You can't help it. You need to accept it, otherwise it will be a very frustrating weapon to use.
    Hope that helps.

@jfcliche, Thank you very much for the post.
It has given me some hope for the future
I wish there was a better way than to have to swap all my training skills to Missile launcher every time the quest comes around Lol. But if that what has to be done to take the win I'll do it.

Would you happen to have any more tips on using the Missle Launcher?
Waveblower had mentioned that firing while not in motion helped with the grouping.
Have you noticed any other effects like this?

Yeah I saw that tutorial by Waveblower, very nice work, it helped me a lot. But I don't know about firing while being stationary. I kinda have a feeling that it does help with the grouping, but there is still some randomness involved, that I am positive about. And the little bit of experience I have with those things is that the human brain is not good at dealing with random stuff : we tend to see patterns and things that just aren't there. So I don't know if Waveblower is right about it. Could be that my hunch is just me "seeing" a pattern just because I watched Waveblower's vid before.

In Waveblower's demo he mentioned that being stationary helped, but many times in it he was moving and the missiles were together, so there is that. Also, missiles have been nerfed since that video, and I'm pretty sure their spread is even more randomized, as I've never had a game with missiles as close together as often as we see them in that video. It's a good weapon, worth spending time on.

Sometimes quests are a good way to prod you to do something. We've had huge bottlenecks with Carronade, Napalm, Grenade, Big Berta and Ballpark mortar quests. With the Carronade buff it has finally become a reasonable weapon, so we are working to improve our Carronade coverage. The others we can just do our best.
