as mentioned by the title the firebomb hits even if you are outside the explosion radius that is already large in itself, it also happens to you? to all the members of the guild I belong to.

It happens too all of us ,

I think it happens if waves move and the projectile hits a different place ,so it's splash hit a different place.
    Or
Bcuz it is a (fire) shoot ( not easy to be controlled ),you can see some parts of the projectile move out the radius.

Or it is just a bug

It is the only "mortar" that does this. Extremely annoying.

Every mortar does this, even grenades, mines, and repair boxes. The circle predicts where the shell would've landed at the moment it was fired. By the time the projectile arrives, the wave could be in a totally different position. On maps with big waves like Sub Zero, the circle could sometimes be extremely inaccurate. This is the reason firebombs are igniting you from outside the circle. My advise, steer clear of the big circles and try to think about what the wave is doing vs where you think the shell is coming from. It might go right over you, or it may land prematurely atop a nearby wave.

That only explains being hit outside of the circle if you are in front or behind the projectile, as the waves could cause it to land close/further from you than the circle shows. How do you explain being hit when perpendicular to the projectile path? The wind blew it? lol
