Explosive cannon vs missile launcher for defender

Hey guys, I'm almost reaching my mk5 defender, and I was thinking whether it was worth it to use the missile launcher on a defender as my 3rd weapon? I don't think it's a popular setup on a defender, but I seem to be having enough rares for a tier 3 missile launcher vs only a tier 2 rare explosive cannon. Currently I'm using cannon + blast cannon as my primary weapons and it rocks, just need to figure out the 3rd weapon.

I'm in a dilemma because the missile launcher's spread is horrendous, and I miss most of my shots with it. I know people say go upgrade the blastian crew to high level and the missile would rock, but as far as I know none of the crew trainings would reduce the spread. And I'm not even sure if the range perks would reduce its spread. Maybe I should just save all my trouble and wait for the 3rd rare explosive cannon dupe?

Defender is not a mortar/missle type boat

Use fast projectile weapons that will help you in mid/close range like cannons

personally missile launcher has trouble even reaching an enemy with one missile. As a defender use the cannon as u can go straight into the action and would be able to hit many sips with the same shots.

 

Depends on your other weapons imo. You really need to have at least one that can hit from far away. I use missiles w/ range perks and am in the high 30's of range. Yes missiles are obviously better at mid range but when you can only have 3 weapons you have to make some choices and for me being able to do at least some damage from far away (and to be able to shoot over walls) is important. I don't know exactly what my hit rate is at long range but it's a lot more than zero lol.
